Tips for using the new forum

re: Tips for using the new board
Bill,
I would not go so far as calling it nasty, but harassing yes. He reminds me of a childhood bully who feels he has found someone he can pick on. For some unknown reason he believes that I see him as a threat.
Good for a chuckle but not something one needs more than once.

Ralph and Scott
I run Firefox for about 3 weeks and although I loved the program, I now have deleted it. The reason for doing so is as follows; I run spybot (search and desroy) on a weekly bases, and there are always 5-6 warnings detected with a firefox related message.
Although I’m not paranoiac about my computer usage, but the warnings had merit, so be aware and check it out. You may feel it is worth it EVG

Scott,
You may want to consider removing the following link from the links page.
http://www.mikeyned.com/bessler/index.htm
The original Mikeyned link has been dead for some time and the name has been revised into a site completely different than Bessler or gravity wheels!

I'm not sure but it must come from the "donate" button at the bottom of the page. I have sent a technical help request to Paypal and will let you know what they say.
In the meantime, are you sure you want your email address in clear text where it can be easily harvested by spam bots?
Thanks,
Scott

OK I got a response from paypal. The code for that button contains encrypted information about my paypal account, so when you click it it can take you directly to the submission form with all my private data already set. The content of the cookie is the encryption key to make that work.WaltzCee wrote:When I logged on to post paypal set a cookie. I didn't visit paypal. Why does it set a cookie?

That makes sense, Scott, if I had selected the paypal link.

Well Waltzcee, when I asked how I could stop the cookie from being set they said the only way would be to use an unencrypted button, which I will not do. The encryption key goes in the cookie so that it can be used when you click the button.
This explanation is good enough for me. If it's not good enough for you then sorry.

Walt,
Is it perchance possible that you inadvertently got to close to the Paypal Icon while activating the scroll bar?
I have not heard of any one else complaining of having unwanted cookie opening when logging in or otherwise.

re: Tips for using the new board
Scott this forum has gone into very slow mode again, or is it just my pc? Mostly it takes a couple of minutes to load a single page and sometime seems to freeze momentarily. But occasionally like for an hour this morning it's super quick again. Anything you can do? Thanks.
