I wanted to post this because that alot of ideas seem to re-emerge from time to time... I found this on...

I remember designing the same idea Specifically the reference from the third picture from the above article:

Now I am sure I am not the first to mention the idea of getting power from tides but dammit, someone should just build the damn thing and be done with it!

At a recent summit in Australia (Canberra) a proposal was made to put turbines below the surface in Sydney Harbour (at the mouth of the Harbour) since the flow of water is quite high due to tides.

This was a serious proposal (not a joke) and I think it is an excellent idea for generating electricity.

May I suggest a Google search titled "Tidal Power".

The results is to lengthy to post here. I believe you will find that the concept is by no means new, and has been in use for years.
