Tips for using the new forum

Bessler set up a donation box and it really reduced the amount of 'unwanted' visitors. (critics, skeptics, etc.) Maybe that will work here. I find the site invaluable, and appreciate the amount of time that must be invested in it's upkeep everyday. My donation is on it's way.

I just discovered a bit of trivia! A non-member or if you are not logged in cannot access "community Buzz, but yet you can open the profile of the last person to post there!
I have to find something better to do with my time!

Can someone knowing computer applications help me out? I have a window popping up at random times, no matter what I am doing that contains the following.
Assistance appreciated.

I have no idea what this is nor how to get rid of it, I have dumped all temporary files and cookies but it continues to annoy me.sprtcmd.exe- no disc in in D drive.

Hi Ralph
Googling for sprtcmd.exe shows it to be listed for Qwest update utilities..
I seem to remember Qwest as your ISP?
Perhaps your ISP is trying to perform a software update. I would check
their homepage.
Regards
Mick

Thanks Mick,
I appreciate that. I do not have to worry about a virus or tacking cookies. I was afraid I might be infected and possibly could pass it along.

Ralph, I recommend going to "Add/Remove Programs" and removing it. It could be called any of the following:
TalkTalk Assist & Go
Qwest Update Utility
SupportSoft
FastAccess DSL Help Center
BellSouthFastAccess DSL
Qwest
from: http://www.file.net/process/sprtcmd.exe.html
No matter what it's called, you don't need it.

re: Tips for using the new board
Scott & Mick,
Just for the knowledge I contacted Quest Tech support. At first they said it was not caused by their software and that other applications used the same .exe file.
I disagreed and after lengthy research and input from other techs, I was told to dump "Quest Quick Care" hang on to "Window Live One care" and dump Norton as well.
I have dumped Quick Care and now we will see what happens.
Thanks to both of you for the input giving me the savvy and the leverage!

re: Tips for using the new board
A fellow member has sent me three CD disks that my computer does not recognize. They are VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP files. originated in the UK. I have tried updating my NVIDIA driver and attempted opening with windows media player, Quicktime and Real Player with no success. none of them will recognize the .BUP
If any of you computer wise guru's can help me out it would be greatly appreciated and the info may become useful for others.
Thanks in advance,
Ralph

Thanks Damian,
you were right, I tried a standard DVD movie disk and got the same response.
A dig through dust and spider webs I found my computers original DVD driver application disk. Problem solved!
