re: Members Only Forum?

Post by Jonathan »

I have barely been able to follow this thread, very unusual, but I will put in my two cents as well.
Various Anonymous Nutjobs: Just register, geez. Look at Georg, he says lots of crazy things but we try to give him the benefit of the doubt. For me it is mostly because I just can't tell through a translator how nuts or not he is, but before I knew the general disposition of the people here a big part of it is that he is registered and posts often.
Zen: The Texas School Book Depository is where L.H. Oswald was when he shot Kennedy. Assuming that iswhat happened...[:)]

Scott,
You may wish to go to a "only members may post" format. Anybody that wants to seriuosly contribute won't be scared away by that extra step.

Yes, these quotes shown in here, really make me think that there are much stuffs this group should keep hide. About the first main question, I considere of importance one know to whom he/she's speaking and how to reach to him/her. ( by the way, where are our girls, or frauleins? ) dec/04

Hi Scott,
I voted no because I think the whole purpose of your website is to foster public dialog about Bessler/P.M. Even though you may get some wackos now and then, sometimes it's those wacky points of view that stimulate ideas.
-Rob
P.S. nor do Ithink that if I were to discover and post the solution to Bessler's wheel that I would have anything to fear about it falling into the wrong hands - only the serious minded individuals here would be interested anyway.

I agree, if I'm going to be accussed of misdeeds toward Georg (and not even by him), I want know who my accusser is. I look forward to the Member Forum.
EDIT
Hey, I see that there is a Member Section and a Community Buzz Forum and that the latter has two threads and posts. But when I try to go there, it says that the file doesn't exist or something.
EDIT
Now it has stopped doing that and asks for a password, and it says that mine is incorrect. Am I to take it that I should just leave it alone for now? Then how and why are there posts there already?
EDIT
Well now it's gone completely, what going on Scott?

Hi All,

Just writing to bring closure to this thread. As you might have noticed, I went ahead and let the majority rule on this question.

Should we set up a members only forum?
Yes 54% [ 12 ]
No 18% [ 4 ]
I don't care 27% [ 6 ]

Total Votes : 22
votes tallied: 2003-12-22

I'd say the results were pretty convincing. If we don't count the "I don't care" votes, it was a 3 to 1 ratio...

So the community has spoken. Now, if you register and become a member of besslerwheel.com, you will have access to a members' only forum. Also, I will set up private (password protected) topics for any user at their request.

I am providing these services to the Bessler community for one reason: because there seems to be a desire for them. Please note: this decision has nothing to do with any particular interpersonal problems or other specific activities that might have occurred on the old public board.

Whether a board is public or private, certain basic rules should apply:
  • Users should behave politely and respectfully at all times.
  • Users should try to use an economy of words and posts to get their ideas across.
The discussion is best served when users take the time to clarify and organize their thinking before adding a new post. Part of being courteous is not dominating the discussion, and trying to keep one's individual volume of posts in line with the overall volume of the board.

I hope that the discussions on this website (public and private) are fruitful and enjoyable for everyone.

Sorry Scott, I'm not clear on this, does this mean that people cant post unless they are registered ? That is what I think the board needs, with all these 'guests' it's getting mighty confusing.

Trev, maybe I can help. The board is divided into two parts. The General Discussion Forum is open to all to read and post to. The Community Buzz Forum may only be used and seen by registered members. And inside the Community Buzz Forum may be some private topics that may only be used and seen by obtaining a password from the author.
How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?
