Jim, are you telling me you haven't read Apologia Poetica, DT, etc?
I was amazed at how much information was available in these books especially the autobiography of Bessler's earlier life. Fascinating stuff. Well worth reading.
Bessler's life is like a search for the meaning of life which we all question at various stages in our lives. His story involves passion, rejection, discovery, fraud, obstinance, greed, tragedy. But Bessler found great meaning to his life. Chance to change the world. Yet amongst all his stubbornness his weakness as a human being let him down. Greed overcame altruism and generosity. Human failure in all its glory. Fascinating stuff.
What amazes me is that people still accept the maid's account of events even though it was "thrown" out of court and discredited by the evidence.
I forget where I saw it recently, I think a physics forum type site that Bessler was mentioned and the maid's account put a quick stop to the article. Some people don't know how to do even basic research!
There is so much we have not seen in the universe. People like our Bessler group are pioneers willing to push the boundaries of science to discover something new, profound. We are not fanatics pursuing an impossible fantasy. There is a real chance Bessler did achieve something extraordinary. We just need to find the seed that Bessler planted. Once that is done many trees will grow :-)
So basically I'm in for the long haul, albeit sporadically.
Damian

I confess I have not read Apologia Poetica and I don't even know what DT is. Neither have I read any of John Collins' books and I'm probably too cheap to buy them. What I have done is go through all the MTs and read an overview of Bessler's life from a link I found by Googling him. I just found out about the maid and read statements like she only got paid two cents an hour or something.
I agree there is so much of the universe we haven't seen. What surprizes me is that there are people who aren't even willing to look. Although I really don't believe Bessler found the secret anymore than Jesus was actually connected to God, I can see reading about Bessler's life would be interesting. There are thousands of Google references and I will be having a look. I don't deny either there was a real chance Bessler was onto something. The wheel was invented at first by one person alone.
I don't know if I'm in it for the long or not. What I do know is that I have been checking Bessler's Wheel every day for two years in the library and having just gotten my first computer hasn't caused me to stop. I'm fascinated by the state of mind I get into just reading all the posts. It's a state of mind I really like.

re: Thank you
So now I read Apologia Poetica and DT At my hour a day on the computer in the library I never took the time. It's an excuse. My lack doesn't negate my good experience here. Maybe it should.

gravity is not a sun's source of energy, but creates the environment in which the sun's energy can be created. Look at the current attempts at fusion power on Earth where the energy output will be greater than the input energy.
The suns power is result of intense gravitational pressure causing a never-ending fusion chain reaction of hydrogen atoms being combining into helium atoms releasing an immense amount of energy in the process. However it is true (theoretically speaking) that the suns gravity in it of itself is the result of massive amounts of energy...
As for fusion created by humans here on Earth: what the problem has been with that is that it is almost impossible to contain a fusion reaction outside of the massive amount of gravity of the Sun...

Hi erick
I just heard this on the news the other day.
U.S. Laser Experiment Becomes Operational
Posted on: Tuesday, 31 March 2009, 10:44 CDT
The U.S. construction of the National Ignition Facility (NIF) is complete and researchers are preparing to start the first experiments aimed at recreating conditions at the heart of our Sun, BBC News reported.
Scientists hope the experiments will demonstrate the feasibility of nuclear fusion, a process that could offer abundant clean energy.
They will begin by focusing 192 giant laser beams on a tiny pellet of hydrogen fuel, in hopes they can show that more energy can be extracted from the process than is required to initiate it...
