Off topic- Efficient Combustion

Post by VergingOnDone »

Sorry for the off topic post but I found this newsworthy, a story about a simple but better design for engine combustion. Found at popular science. I like his out of the mainstream idea. Props for those thinking out of the norm, including this board!

Here's his patent explaining the design.

very nice story about the man.

The fuel efficiency of the Bourke has never been matched. Was demonstrated over 50 years ago.

Read the paper from the "Experimental Aircraft Association".

It outperformed the diesel.

Why? 50 to 1 compression.

Fuel efficiency is directly proportional to compression ratio other factors being equal.
