PM machine powered by earth's rotation

Post by Kirk »

I believe I have solved the design but I don't have the computer skills to do the simulation or CAD.

I would like to make a dollar if possible as I really need money for medical stuff.

Suggestions?

Are you claiming that your design extracts useful power from the earth's rotation?

You seem to be saying that this is a design solution for Bessler's wheel. Bessler obtained in excess of 50 Watts in his mechanism - all derived from the Earth's rotational energy??? You're joking right!?

It is not Bessler's wheel. Bessler didn't extract energy from the rotation of the earth.

This thing has to be massive and only produces enough energy to keep moving. But, it is PM or at least as perpetual as I am.

I think you'll find it almost impossible to make a buck out of such a scheme that requires considerable investment and is of no practical value.

I have a few designs capable of perpetually driving a wheel of similar size to Bessler's. None can drive a load - just enough power to maintain their own rotation. While these designs would have been considered 'true PM' back in Bessler's time - not so today.

Calculate the energy. It is astronomical.
Mankind is not as significant as one may think.
Nor is his science.

Hi ovyyus,

Ok, I'm a 'sticky beak' !? Would these 'designs' be along the lines that you have expoused b4 & the conclusions you seem to have reached i.e. gravity is not likely the primary mover & you propose to use ambient forces &/or gradients e.g. cf - magnus - pressure - temperature - something else ? to create a "zero runner" (capable of self rotation & can overcome internal friction but no useful/useable power) ?

To me even that would be some achievement not least from a novalty aspect ! I've got just the place for it on my desk (unless it's like Kirk's) - will keep me entertained for decades :)

Hi Fletcher,

Yes, that's correct. It's no amazing scientific breakthrough to make a finely balanced wheel self-rotate by harnessing environmental thermal and/or pressure gradients.

But a wheel like this wouldn't exactly fit on a tabletop. It's required diameter needs to be almost floor to ceiling of the room in which it's housed - just like Bessler's were.

One of the things that surprised me most when I first encountered Bessler's MT was his interest in thermal designs.

It would be a real breakthrough to make this type of wheel drive a considerable load without resorting to adding additional heat to the room in which it's housed (bodies, fireplace, etc). Now that's a challenge!

Which designs are thermal?

Designs that use compression/expansion of air eg: MT60, 61, 67, 73, etc. Designs that use long coiled pipes for fluid/vapour transfer, eg: MT79, 92, 119, 120, etc.

How about an Egely vitality meter? You put your hand around it (not touching) and it spins. It is suppose to indicate you bodies vitality. But in reality (in my opinion) it spins from small moving air currents from the heat of your hand. Also if you are that close then you are close enough for your beathing to create air currents that spin it.

Hi jim_mich,

That's brilliant, haven't seen this before. I think you're right about it being a delicate indicator of thermal air currents generated by the body. 'Vitality Meter' sounds so much more interesting though :)

There are so many interesting thermal effects yet to be encountered and utilised.

Thanks, I didn't get that's what they were since there were no heat sources shown.
