Thanks Michael.
My opinion is Bessler HAD to be more crafty with his clues!
Some of the brightest minds around were trying to figure out how his wheels worked. His clues had to be clever enough NOT to lead them to the answer. He wasn't writing the clues to be beyond the comprehension of the average Joe but also the other great minds ( and some enemys ).
I also believe many clues are intended to lead down the wrong path.
I must say he was good at it.
