Nobel Peace Prize

Post by scott »

I guess this means we've closed Gitmo, pulled out of Iraq, ended the Afghan war, and drawn down our worldwide military empire. Oh wait...

Makes you wonder who lost more credibility; The people bestowing the prize, or the one who accepted it....

The prize was given to the American people with instructions to our named representative to carry out that will.

Whether I as an Aussie like or dislike Obama, I too am surprised...no, astounded as to why he got the Nobel Peace prize. That prize has lost all credibility!

The Nobel Peace Prize now stands for the following principles:
  1. Standing armies are great and should be made larger
  2. War is okay as long as a democrat wages it
  3. Military occupation of foreign lands is fine
  4. The relentless killing of civilians in the name of "democracy" is just dandy
  5. Stating that you'd like to close Gitmo is good enough, you don't have to do anything else

"The Nobel committee recognized Obama's efforts at dialogue to solve complex global problems, including working toward a world free of nuclear weapons.

"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said.

Jagland said the decision was "unanimous" and came with ease."

"There is no greater burden than a great potential."

When asked how they came to this choice one of the jurists could quote the rules

"Alfred Nobel wrote that the prize should go to the person who has contributed most to the development of peace in the previous year," Jagland said.

Apparently she doesn't possess reading comprehension abilities
