These systems have been around for a while, especially in the industry I'm in.

However I do like the fact that it has been simplified: no need to use powders and lasers to form the objects, and no need to use liquid baths and layering lasers. Much cleaner and simpler (and cheaper!).

The complexity is always using the software. It's easy to duplicate the part, but designing a part accurately from scratch takes quite a while to master.

Good stuff. I'd like to make a copy of my face for my ancestors.

I have lusted over machines like these for my casting work for about 7 years. But I don't think they make working models of the ones I have seen.

My uncle has something similar. He's a dental technician and he has a machine that scans any 3 dimensional tooth part and carves a copy.
