Nick you said the idea has been raised every two weeks for the past ten years. Didn't you mean on Bessler Wheel or like minded forums?

That is an intresting thought that the spring puts tension on a lever storing energy and then the lever is used to help make the weight fly up on the the ascending half of the wheel.

Does anyone know is there any other reference to this spring by any other witnesses or is the only one???

Hope we're not talking at cross purposes, Michael :)

Yes, meant that I assume that this concept of, as wheel is said to have been solid to axle, the obvious way of loading "springs' would be a radial bamboo or whatever arrangement on the axle itself, said springy poles or else being under tension by means of being "tucked" behind slats on wheel rim. Reverse would have same effect except the axle would only leave space/time enough for one slat? And of course the "spokes" under tension or so brought wouldn't necessarily need to be equally spaced through 360°.

An interesting variation would be a limited slip or else sleeve on the axle, the spring levers or poles etc being mounted thereupon, in which case the posibilities increase in a most alarming way.

As to the every two weeks stuff, indeed yes, I meant on Besslerwheel.com, the possibility seems so patently obvious that I'm guessing it's the ultimate forum Hydra, the "dreaded mad idea that will never die".

If this monster hasn't been slain by some Hercules yet, how about this : go to the local archery club, offer them a 12 pack if they let you relieve them of a whole load of light carbon fiber arrrows, shafts make admirable springs.

Worst comes to worst, you could stick the things all the way round a bikey wheel, with golf balls on top, and have a massive series of collisions which you film at 400 fps and spend the rest of your life interpreting the data.
If you think you have an overunity device, think again, there is no such thing. You might just possibly have an unexpectedly efficient device. In which case you will be abducted by MIB and threatened by aliens.
