How to surf on Internet, ignoring temporarly Windows and you

Post by path_finder »

Dear all,
After some disasters reported recently on this forum, and the danger to see an important increase of the attacks from the outside 'last minute inventors' and/or hackers, I give here some informations for those members/guests not fully yet on the game.

There is only one efficient way for surfing on Internet without to take care of the virus and hackers: the Linux CD-Live. What is it?
Most of the people are using the Windows operating system from Microsoft.
This is not the place here for discussing on the pertinence of this choice.
Linux is another operating system with almost all equivalent applications.
One of the features of Linux is the access security policy to the directories and the files.
Until some recent time this operating system was requiring some particular skills and therefore has been considered as an tool for the experts.
This is not the case anymore today.

But the most important feature of Linux, not known by the majority of people, is the possibility to use it without to modify anything in your computer.
It is not necessary to install Linux into your hard disk.
So far you can use Linux for the surf on Internet, without to take care of your favorite Windows.
The hard disk is completely ignored during the session, and therefore whatever you are doing on Internet, you cannot be infected
How to do that?

Switch off your 'windows' session as usual (start, switch-off computer, confirm).
Insert the 'magic CD' in your drive.
Switch-on your computer, the boot process start from the CD, the hard disk is ignored, windows don't start, Linux is loaded into the RAM memory.
After completion of the load process, you will get a desktop. Click on the Web browser icon. Here we go...
If you want to store some file, insert your USB key and select the right directory. That' all.
When finished with Internet, just switch-off your computer, remove the 'magic-CD' and restart your computer on Windows.

Notes:
1. First you must check that your computer is able to boot from the CD-ROM drive in the first position.
This can be made once by calling the Bios setup function just after the switch-on, by keying the key listed on the screen (usually F10 or Delete)

2. You must have the 'magic CD' in your hand.
There a lot of available 'CD-Live' depending of the Linux version you choose.
A search on Google with the string: 'Linux CD-Live image' will give you a lot of choices.
You can see here the list of the available 'magic CD' for Linux: http://www.livecdlist.com/
On my own I recommend Damn Small Linux, you can find here: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/download.html
or pclinuxos, you can find here: http://pclinuxos.com/?option=com_ionfiles&Itemid=28
After the download (under windows) of the image file (example: magic-cd.iso), burn the CD under windows with your favorite burner (Nero, etc).

3. There is another way doing the same: the 'magic-USBkey' for Linux with the same principles.
But it is a little bit more complex, see here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Insta ... omUSBStick (4Go USB key required).

The safety of the besslerwheel.com Web site is a matter of everyone.
Many thanks in advance.
I cannot imagine why nobody though on this before, including myself? It is so simple!...
