This was supposedly an actual question given on a
University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The
answer by one student was so "profound" that the
professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet,
which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of
enjoying it as well.
Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or
endothermic (absorbs heat)?
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs
using Boyle's Law gas cools when it expands and heats
when it is compressed)or some variant.
One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is
changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which
souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they
are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that
once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave.
Therefore, no souls are leaving.
As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at
the different Religions that exist in the world today.
Most of these religions state that if you are not a
member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since
there is more than one of these religions and since
people do not belong to more than one religion, we can
project that all souls go to Hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect
the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.
Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in
Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the
temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the
volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls
are added.
This gives two possibilities:
1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the
rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature
and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell
breaks loose.
2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the
increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and
pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa
during my Freshman year that, "it will be a cold day
in Hell before I sleep with you, and take into account
the fact that I slept with her last night, then number
2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is
exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary
of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it
follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is
therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby
proving the existence of a divine being which explains
why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."

Yeah well, all the good stuff gets by me eventually.
I'm not "in" with the scientific humour crowd.

This was in my daily bible-reading email!
Psalm 36
Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart;
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For it flatters him in his own eyes
Concerning the discovery of his iniquity and the hatred of it.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
He plans wickedness upon his bed;
He sets himself on a path that is not good;
He does not despise evil.
Your lovingkindness, O LORD, extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Your judgments are like a great deep.
O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come upon me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the doers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been thrust down and cannot rise.

Are you trying to tell us something Patrick?
Are we all going to hell?
Such comments are not helpful and only stir the paranoia pot.
What if I was to say that "most" people (a minority in fact) that visit this site think that this forum and the world rotate around them - the egotists.
Now, after that........is anyone getting paranoid out there?
(could I be refering to you...........the reader?)
It's quite possible that the person that cracks this project could be an Atheist, yet that dosen't mean that he is an evil-doer and won't do what's right for the better of mankind.
Another thing, I have a hunch that Bessler created the whole God/dream thing to play down his genius, as an effort to remain humble.
Pride can be a dangerous thing.
Are we all going to hell?
.....taken from the "a clue from Bessler" thread in community buzz.I have more details about this that I would like to talk about but I think most of the people that visit this site are godless blasphemers that would not appreciate/comprehend the beauty of what God revealed to Bessler

Well said Coylo. God didn't punish the questioner and unbeliever, he punished the true believers who stayed in their station and took it easy with their ways.

re: Is Hell Exothermic or Endothermic?
This is the honest truth, "Tonight Hell will freeze over." How do I know? I live about nine miles this side of Hell and tonight's low will be about 26 degrees F.
Every morning for 21 years I drove to work and came to an intersection. The sign pointed to the left and said "HELL". Every morning I made that left turn towards Hell. And every morning about 3 miles before I got to Hell I made a right turn away from Hell. But I must tell the truth, many times I've been through Hell. It even has a small post office drop box where you can send a letter post marked "Hell Michigan".

The people that live there must get a kick out of telling people where they live.
