Towards a working SMOT Gravity Wheel
Greetings all. Merry Kwanza, Happy Christmas, and Hanukkah Cheers to all.
SMOT is the "Simple Magnetic Overunity Toy" that pulls a ball up a ramp and creates Kinetic energy.
How can one harness this kinetic energy? a Wheel?
Here's a photo from a guy named "JoeFriday0001".
I'm wondering if adding a few "SMOT tracks" to slide the balls to the outer fulcrum, then similarly add another to slide the ball back into the hub would work.
Inside a teflon shielded hub would be a bar magnet (RED Dot being positive), the ball would most likely need to be half steel/half magnet. one side to stick and repel from the inner hub while the steel side getting energy from the smot track. Magnet side would also likely need "shielding" from the SMOT magnets.
I've only thought about these for hour or so. Just throwing out an idea for all to ponder over the holidays.
Perhaps this Ferko Motor could also be aided with SMOT help.

Anyone think this would work? Just something to think about over the holidays. :D
Regards,
-BZ

Or better yet how about SMOT power on the bottom?
Or 4 SMOT's at N-S-E-W.
Surely this is too easy, it cant work. :D

Bz, hello! Bom Natal!
I really like to your inspired idea.
It's of the kind that NEEDS to be modeled.
Possiblely I would try to move that horizontal magnet bar a few degrees at left, nothing else.
Congratulations! Good luck!

re: Towards a working SMOT Gravity Wheel
Thanks for the enthusiasm murilo. Agreed about your conclusion of moving the magnets to the left. The last 15-20% of the magnet array must be avoided with as much of a 90 degree escape as possible I would imagine.
Here's another interesting design from J. Naudin that has also been untested.
These all may or may not work, but are still fun to think about! :-)
Regards.

re: Towards a working SMOT Gravity Wheel
I've made one like the fifth picture on this page and it didn't work. I decided it was because with the originial SMOT ramp the ball interacted with gravity and magnetism, but that model is balanced and so it was only magnetism. (I never got the ramp to work with a ball though, I used rolling magnets). I tried a couple variations on that concept so that it wouldn't be balanced at any instant (of course no net imbalance though) and they didn't work either.

Hi!
This project you, considere, Jon, *if working*, will not send energy surplus. Should be just one more toy.
But, tell us, Jon (and others), what can you say about this BZ's idea?
Thanks. Regs. M. SP dec/26th/2004

Re: re: Towards a working SMOT Gravity Wheel
I vote for smot at the top. BZ may have a good idea here. The smot appears to work , but is not a real powerhouse. One of the problems with the smot is that it is not a continuous process. If it can be combined with a wheel then it would be continous.murilo wrote:Hi!

If it works, it will be continuous... to add bigger mass to system is just a detail.
BTW, what means 'smot'? Something I lost, of sure.

re: Towards a working SMOT Gravity Wheel
Murilo, I thought my post was clear, I don't think BZ's SMOT with a wheel would work, because I've tried several similar variations, none worked or showed promise if modified.

Hi, guys!
( JUST EDITING )
Shame on me! I'm SO SORRY! I read too fast since first msg and made a complete confusion and a mess.
Please, pretend I said nothing, ok?
( anyway, I still think that smot draw is good! )
Thanks and regards. M. SP dec/27th/04

How about this one. Add SMOT to the William Sommerset, Marquis of Worcester (1612-1667) "Rolling Ball Machine".
Place SMOT magnets astride the "10 O'Clock" spoke-ramp. (add an additional at 4 O'Clock for more RPM's?)

re: Towards a working SMOT Gravity Wheel
The SMOT can not run itself, therefore it can't run a wheel.

Closed-Loop SMOT will run ad-infinitum.ovyyus wrote:The SMOT can not run itself, therefore it can't run a wheel.

If you tied a steel ball to a Hamster for the purpose of continually running around this same track, that would be one tired Hamster exerting "REAL calories".
There is real work being performed here.
Rotary SMOT should be able to harness these "calories" and turn them into mechanical energy.
(It would also be just for fun, one would get more power and efficiency from an RMOG type design.)

"Closed-Loop SMOT will run ad-infinitum. "
That's not been proven.
Also, I thought it was Edward Somerset, the Marquis of Worcester (1601-1667), and his wheel was the one shown here?
