Some real productive replies here. Anyone with half a brain care to debunk my post?

The reason known that the pendulums where not the driver is due to the pendulum were also taken off and the wheel and it still turned. It could very well been a regulator device to make sure the wheel ran smoothly. It also could have been use as a setup device to make sure the wheel was properly upright. The angle shown in the picture could have just been fitting it onto the block for printing.

AB Hammer: where does it say this? Also, I suspect he had a pendulum on both sides of the wheel. The pendulum is SEPARATE from the wheel. Everyone here is trying to build a self running wheel lol!

Who's trying? 12 more days and I am building, I have designs that can lift 4 lbs 4 times the distance with and of 1 lb. P.S. Bessler's wheel worked from within. ;-)

Alan - it's clear the wheel was just there to spin and lift things. The real genius was what DROVE the wheel. The wheel was not intended to run itself. That is the mass confusion here I think.....

Well satanspawn

You first have to know what you are trying to do. Then understand what you are facing. Then you need to know what stops these wheels from working. Then do what may work. After all that you might finally have an idea. It is funny FDROLMAO I have never been called an in box thinker before. I am a Blacksmith who specializes in medieval armor and machinery. Our modern man have forgotten so much. It's sad 8-(

Alan - I'm sure you're a smart guy. What I see here, coming from the extreme outside and just peeking in is a community obsessed with building a wheel that runs itself. I see blinders on here - thus my comment to think outside the box. Bessler's drawing lacks depth - it's hard to tell that the wheel is just that - a wheel! The true mechanism is next to the wheel. If you wanted to turn a wheel in 1712 would you build a wheel that turned itself or would you build something that turned the wheel? Keep in mind the time of human history he was in. He wasn't some alien from another planet - he wanted to make a wheel turn.

I think it was sufficiently determined by investigators of the day that the wheel was driven by means located wholly inside the wheel housing. Even Wagner agreed on that point. Bessler's 'intrinsic motion wheel' was offered for sale with a money back guarantee that it operated free of any externally applied work.

ovyyus - you are not going off the drawings. Who cares what was for sale? What Bessler was selling was his method of resetting the pendulum. Somehow he had the wheel do it - which do this day is credit to both his brilliance and creativity. If we could build it today however it would not solve our energy crisis. Please see this link for my explanation of why the pendulum was not part of the wheel. Scott I'll update the links so they stick soon thanks for pointing that out.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Bessler's wheel was reported to operate independantly of any optionally applied external pendulums. Please read the historical reports.
