Where did the John Collins Forum threads go?

Post by John Collins »

Hi Scott,

I was going through my old private forum which, as I requested in 2009, you kindly opened up to all. The previous threads all seem to have vanished and I wonder how to find them or have they been deleted?

Thanks

John

Strange, I assumed you had deleted them at this time.

They have been gone a very long time.

I've never seen any files other than the current ones.

No, Jim there was more, he made it public after I posted about the pentagrams in the drawings.

Around Aug 2 2009 he deleted his website and his forum.

Aug 3 2009 At the start of the thread he talks about what I thought was his deleting it.

JC's Quote:
What was on this forum is repeated on that web site, so little is lost apart from Bill's excellent version of the pentagram.

Oh-Oh! Maybe I did delete the contents of the forum although I can't think why? I know my powers of recall are not what they used to be (as I'm sure Bill and Stewart will agree!). Hopefully Scott will confirm of deny whether I deleted or not?

Yes John, I remember you deleted all your old topics and replaced them with one titled only with an ellipsis. It was a sad day.

I also regret that Nic deleted all his topics. Sometimes I wonder if giving forum moderators the power to delete topics is a good idea. It seems to be tragically overused. But I guess I don't have much choice. I can't give a user his "own" forum without also giving him the power to make mistakes :-)

Thanks Scott, I'm afraid I acted in haste and now I'm repenting at leisure.

I have just now been to the forum and wondered where all the post had gone. By routing around I managed to find this thread which explains all.

You probably deleted it because of all the negativity.

At least it should give us some sympathy for Bessler smashing his wheels. Image

The advantage of a private forum is it give one the power to keep discussions on track by ruthlessly culling the irreverent and irrelevant. Your trouble John is you're too kind. I would have no such inhibitions.
