“Sheet sets are an extremely efficient way to organize the project drawings. By keeping all the drawing sheets in one place and automating the information in the title block, the Sheet Set Manager creates a consistent and easily managed set of project drawings that can be transmitted with ease, through either DWF or traditional Internet formats.”

Hi Epi

I think you mean Buckminster Fuller. Just because it's a new name to you doesn't mean others of us haven't know about him for years - we aren't all as dumb as you seem to think we are ;-)

All the best

Dial-up connections suck! 370 Megabytes @ 5 minutes per Mega equals about 31 hours download time.

I guess I'll pass.

What kind of modem do you have Jim ? I have a 56K V92 modem and I can download at over 40Kb per sec on a good day. Sometimes when the download starts I get as much a 150 KB per sec but then it gradually falls back to 37 to 40KB/sec.

Mind you it's still painfully slow , anything larger than a 10 MB download is something I avoid.

Hi Graham,
I've got the best 56k V92 modem money can buy but it can't overcome five miles of copper underground phone lines. Usually I get 26kb, sometimes 30kb. The sad thing is the phone company put in new fiber-optic lines 1/2 mile from my house a couple years ago but don't know when they'll hook them up.

What about a cable isp ? I've been thinking about it but they charge about 50 bucks a month and up . I think its a ripoff and I don't understand why they have to charge so much for it . It's not like they had to pay for internet content , they're just a carrier like the dialup service.

By the way I see you have your occupation as a day trader , could be treacherous ground. About 8 years ago I was into commodity futures for a while I did great for a while but then orange juice futures took it all away from me . Too much hanky panky going on in those markets for me to compete with the big guys manipulating the markets.

Take care

No cable for about 4 miles. Satellite dish is fast after a short delay for the signal to go up an back down and it still uses a phone line to send. Also expensive. I keep waiting for that fiber-optic then I can go DSL.

I hear you, I lost my butt daytrading this year.

Hi Epi, I'm glad you've discovered Buckminster Fuller, even if you don't quite have his name right. In the future however, you might find you have better luck starting a meaningful discussion if you keep the sophomoric comments to yourself.
Best Regards,
Scott

Buckminster Fuller had some good ideas and some crackpot ideas. He patented the geodesic dome which has been known for thousands of years. One thing he did do was make it usable. I built several models back in the 80's and one huge truncated octahedron for a green house. It took decades to find buckyballs, the 60 carbon atom geodesic balls. Of course this is now the basis of nanotube technology that seems to be so promising.

His home and his car were a bust ,however. They were innovative but innovation in itself does not always constitute successs.

I use Bobcad for drawing and for programing parts to run on my equipment. It seems to me that Autocad has more bells and whistles than I need and I need the CNC programming capabilities.

You can try Bobcad from its website www.bobcad.com. The trial program will not allow you to save or print and it will only run for 30 days.

I've been using BobCad for 15 years now. Exellent program. I was still using the old DOS version until a couple months ago when I bought the oldest Windows version that they would sell me. I think I paid about $200 for it.

I sent Darrell a copy of the old DOS version so he could veiw the drawings I was making. If anyone wants a DOS version I can e-mail it. It runs in Windows just fine except it always takes over the whole screen.

I agree AutoCad is too complex.
