How to look at this '&@\-##' (censured) video?

Post by path_finder »

You cannot read a video displayed on this forum?

There is 99% of chance you are missing a 'plugin' (not included yet inside your Web browser). This additionnal software is in charge of indicating to your browser what to do when receiving a file with a propriétary format. (If your browser has not the corresponding 'video player' plugin, it cannot know what to do with this kind of file).

First you must detect the suffix of the resisting file. The suffix will give you the name of the corresponding format and the name of the needed plugin. Then you must download (thanks to Google) this plugin in accordance with the browser you are using.
This is usually not an easy job. Forget it, there is a better way:

If you cannot add the specific plugin to your browser, the video player VLC (from http://www.videolan.org/) remains the last solution for you (this software is free, compatible Win*#&@, Linux and MacOSX, and more interesting don't use any plugin nor additionnal download, using it's own decoders for a large variety of exotic video formats). Then you have just to left click on the movie picture.

If after all these efforts you still are not able to read the video file, apply this procedure:
- right click on the movie picture
- dowload the video file on your harddisk
- leave temporarely the browser for the file navigator and go to the appropriate directory (when it has been downloaded)
- right click on the downloaded file name
- left click on 'read the file with VLC'

Enjoy.
I cannot imagine why nobody though on this before, including myself? It is so simple!...
