As regards the animation in the first post, it won't work.
It's cleverly trying to get around the parallel beam problem and failing.
Those vertical diamond guides is where the problem lies.
Its no more than a reciprocating parallel beam type structure.

I was hoping someone would help clarify why the principle won't work. It's not looking like it will, but I'm not 100% clear on why and would like some help.
In regards to the diamonds, as I understood it the pin 31 is attached to (the seesaw 32 and) the guide bar 10, which is part of the platform that the balls sit on. If this is the case then it seems to me that the diamond should move straight up and down, while the platform moves horizontally with respect to it. I think the diamonds connect to the platforms only at the two corners that cross the guide rails 10, and that the diamonds do not have a direct connection to the seesaw 32 at all. If this isn't the case, then it is just a small oversight that doesn't really matter since it's not crucial to the design anyway.

Wow Oxygon, that is a really interesting idea. I see how one can imagine that the weight on the left side might move in a circle and keep the see saw going. But I think it would pretty quickly wind up at the balance point right in the middle between the two stops. At this point the weights will balance and the magenetic fields will balance as well.
But what if the whole contraption were turning? What if the magnets could also slide or change orientation while the whole thing turns? Makes you wonder...

I am not so sure with this added modification...
the counter-weight will cause the rolling magnet to bear against the upper magnetic track and proceed outward... when it reaches a point where is it further out than the counter-weight, the magnet will drop and be pulled inward by the lower magnetic track... ... ...
I know we are talking theoretical here... but I don't see it coming to a point of "null" too easily...
