Beetle used as controller of robot

Post by DrWhat »

In the search for autonomous robots, scientist have found all the software complications tedious and time consuming.

An Australian inventor this week sought to solve the problem by placing an intelligent local beetle inside the large humanoid machine to control it.

"The solution was so simple" he was heard to say. "Why hadn't anyone thought of it before! All we have to do is feed it and the beetle does the rest!"

He also jokingly said "The robot was even more intelligent than my drinking buddy Dave after a few pints!"

True story.
I only realized too late that life was short.

Yes - Pidgins were trained to pick at the controls of pilot less plans. To hit a target with a bomb. However would you be happy to see your pidgin coming back home --- Bang!

It is possible to use neural networks to trigger events. Computational or biological. The risk is the final judge.

If you work in that lab, you might not want to become attached, name those beetles or take them as pets. What would DARPA plan to do with those beetles? Use them as guidance for something that goes boom?
