MR. BESSLERS WONDERFUL WHEEL

Post by winkle »

Mr. Besslers Wonderful Wheel... my name is jim neLson... i live in arlington texas... after much thought over months... i am placing this in the public domain... no one should control this... it should belong to everyone... here is how Besslers Wheel works... take a wooden circle say three feet... cut a couple of inches off the out side in a circle... take that circle that you cut off split it making two half circles... attach one end of each half circle back to the edge of circle this was taken from on with hinges both going the same direction... attach a cord to the loose end of each half circle then to the wheel to adjust the amount of fall... this can be made on a frame work also.... if you look at the wheel as a clock when the turning the ends with cords one on top will kick out at 10:30 and jump past the 12:00 position ... one on bottom will suck in at the 4:30 position... put several of these on the same axel at different degrees and you have ... MR. BESSLERS WONDERFUL WHEEL...

Could you make a drawing, or better, post a picture or video?

Winkle, I don't have the foggiest what you are trying to convey here. Drawing of what you are trying to say will speak a thousand words.

I image something to this effect, but I don't get how to attach the strings, or what part is the one that is at 10:30 when the jump occurs, or what causes the jump. (Both arms are shown open a bit for clarity).

I think what he has in mind is something like a swastika but done with circles. The circles begin around the main circle but then they kick out so you have a circular swastika looking thing.

Jonathan what you have drawn is corect....attach a cord to the loose ends and back to the wheel with a small amount of slack....place several of these on a axel the more the better....the one you if you if you look at the circle as a clock face with numbers that uper arm will jump out at about 10:30 and will go past the 12:00 pisiton.....the lower arm will draw in at the same time....placeseveral of these circles with leavers on the same axel at diffrent positions.....like one at 12:00 another at3:00 another at 6:00 another at 9:00 next to each other on a axel....try it you will like it

I think I get it now. As shown below, it turns ccw and the lower arm will be pulling in soon. The upper arm has just jumped out. Strings not shown. Have you actually built a model?

lower leaver goes in and upper leaver jumps out at same time....if you look at center of one of the half circles the middle is out farther than either end....the end with the cord will go out of balance before before it reaches the zenith...at about the 10:30 position on a clock and will jump past 12:00
