Well, it's a total fraud. The wheel doesn't pick up speed it only seems to maintain what was given to it. It's basically acting like a flywheel. I see what you mean about the similarity with Patrick as they both say the wheel seems to be picking up speed, which neither were. In fact if you watch Patricks very closely he says it right at a point where it slightly but noticably slows down a bit.
