I attached to this message another strange "perpetual motion" WM2D model I found on this thread (I'm not the creator):

re: Strange self-running model
G'day all,
@niente
The simulation is invalid. Whoever did this put an illegal value in the field that specifies the mass of the polygon. Change it to 1.0 kg and it will behave as expected. See screenhot below. The programme should have rejected the value entered, but that is an editing problem not a real fault in the simulation.

re: Strange self-running model
Niente, are you sure it's completly symmetrical? Since the CoM seems to be not on the center. I made one only made of rectangles and a square, and the CoM seems to be fixed at the center unlike yours.
Hans, I don't think it's illegal that's just a scientific notation of a number, in this case a very small one. Niente wanted it to have a very small mass so that it doesn't contribute to the motion and just acts like a construction holding both pieces.

Re: re: Strange self-running model
Evidently the programme does not cater to that kind of notation in this particular field. Hence it goes haywire. There are a number of problems associated with WM2D, this is one of them.broli wrote:
