It is funny, we all believe that its possible, but at the same time we always take on new ideas with the assumption that it will fail, especially if they're from other people.
As far as my self I always approach my new ideas with a sense of skeptical optimism, which might be an oxymoron, but its as close as I can relate the feeling.
Some people have been doing this for over half a century, others, like myself are fairly new to the experience. The beauty of it is that the solution is supposed to be fairly simple, so that a carpenter's boy (which I so happen to be :)) could even build it. Anyone could come up with the solution, at any time, or no one could come up with it, ever. Its hard to tell, but the implications of such a device are too great to ignore for most of us.
But as others have said, treat it like a hobby, its the most healthy way to approach it as a person.

Wow - what a coincident! My dad is a carpenter too! In fact, he's coming down this weekend to paint my family room. I had him cut some of the wood for my latest attempt out of some scrap he had in his workshop.Deven wrote: The beauty of it is that the solution is supposed to be fairly simple, so that a carpenter's boy (which I so happen to be :)) could even build it.
