The World is not ready for Perpetual Motion

The premise is also contained in a very good article in "New Scientest" a couple of months back ! Worth reading - look up their back issues on their web site.
re: The World is not ready for Perpetual Motion
I've never even heard that there was an alternative view on the source of oil! I found that paper very convincing.

Hello, guys. We are dealing to heavy and wide stuffs, as you know!
I came to say two phrases, that are now of concern to us.
First one is ''paulistana'' (from Sao Paulo city): ''after the storm will come always the flood.'' (translation: has to see with *causes and effects*)
Second is the ''quote of the day'', from today; Victor Hugo's:
'' There is one thing stronger than all armies in the world and this thing is AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME''. ( a hope of mine: may the time of an idea also come by superior compassive ways...) Regs. M. SP jul/01

re: The World is not ready for Perpetual Motion
Thanks for the great discussion everyone. I have also pondered whether the world would be ready for Bessler's Wheel. Unfortunately, many people (mostly politicians) would see it as a weapon that never stops...

A weapon that weights over 400 pounds and puts out less than 54 watts worth of energy?

I'm not saying that Bessler's Wheel would make a useful weapon by itself. I'm saying that any free energy principle that is discovered will soon be weaponized by certain elements of our "civilized" society...

If we don't find it, someone else will eventually and all hell still may break out because of it, or not???

Michael's comment is funny, but beside the point. It is not the type of weapon you konk someone over the head with. It in fact is not a weapon at all, it is a tool, a tool as a means for an end. What may be scary about PM is that it is a tool capable of being used for dramatic ends of any type.

What are you saying...?
that F/E is bad...?
No?, are batteries bad becuase they can be used for ill purposes?
without drawing in other simular debates, F/E is good and bad
Hundreds of thousands will lose jobs, markets will shake, but then mankind will see things anew... but to invention, duality is natural...
Was the world ready for the automobile? Was the world ready for flying machines? Was the world ready for light bulbs? Was the world ready for nuclear bombs??? All are tools... means to an end...
reasonably I couldn't have left the last one out... New tech/ideas may threaten, but they also hold hope for a better tommorow... (there are better ways to produce "nuclear" energy safely, albeit more expensive, the whole field is cursed and will be until/if someone convinces the public otherwise...)

re: The World is not ready for Perpetual Motion
There's a groug of inventors in Thailand who have come up with a water generator for the domestic market. This device extracts water from the surrounding air (I think it's a few litres a day) Not sure though when it's comming out?
Once portable PM is a reality, I believe free water will go hand in hand with free energy. Even food..??
Real estate prices soaring in the deserts..?

re: The World is not ready for Perpetual Motion
PM will open our collective eyes to possibilities we have been ignorant to for too long...
And like you say PM can make soo many more things possible... water in the desert, (warm)cities in the coldest places on earth, floating cities..., etc.
Not to mention the "space" potential would be innapropriate, the advantage here is with PM you could have a completely self-sufficient space vehicle... like how they have nuclear powered subs that can run underwater for years... (we still have problems like getting stuff up there and proper shielding, etc.)
PM is the first dominoe... the holy grail to infinite possibilties...
