Hi Stewart,
Smiler might be better called Moe-man :) Perhaps long curly upper lip hair was in vogue back in the early 1700's. Amateur artists often unconciously draw faces with similar features.

re: Question for John Collins
Hi Bill
You're right - I'm clutching at straws again!
I think that he is sporting a curly moustache and not a big grin, so I like the name Moe-man more! :)
How is the MT book you are working on going? I can't wait to get it! Does it have the original MT pages in it or is it your own representations of the images as seen on your website, or both?
All the best
Stewart

re: Question for John Collins
Hey All,
I keep seeing references to MT drawings. I have checked out Bill's webpage and the MT drawings he has posted (which are excellent - thanks for your hard work Bill), but the drawing this thread discusses is not there. Is there some other site where all the MT drawings are available? This would greatly help me with my research and let me see what everyone else is saying about a particular drawing.
P.S. I know the books (John's and Bill's) are coming, and I am waiting patiently, but this is holding me up.

re: Question for John Collins
Hi Stewart,
Unfortunately, the book is proceeding very slowely at present due to an upcoming move of house and several other committments that keep me from my ongoing MT duties. I do not forsee completion for at least a few months yet - wish it were otherwise.
My version of MT will not include the originals due to copyright limitations which preclude use of the original drawings. If I could freely post or publish the originals I would not go through the ordeal of producing my 'artistic impressions'. However, my version of MT will include full translations of the accompanying hand written notes.
Nathaniel - I'm sure some kind soul will contact you shortly with a solution to your problem.
