Just a short video showing the motion of the modified primemover/flywheel (which obviously rotates at a speed twice the main wheel inside the virtual drum represented by the red circle).
The mechanical difficulties have been solved and the mechanism revolves now without any shocks, and apparently with a marginal friction.
The next step will be to install the wheel on its stand for a rotation around the main axis.

Returned back home recently after about two months of absence, I can now restart my experiments and buildings.

I made some important improvements on my latest above shown wheel (pedalist version), in particular:
- the rigidity of the two opposite shafts, assuming a better orthogonal position
- the setup of four springs for a better mechanical stability of the central rotational part
- the insertion of a cylinder (instead a disk like previously) for the central part, allowing the future implementation of a real primemover
- the pass-through inside this cylinder of the two shafts, allowing the catch of the main wheel rotation speed inside the primemover
The second shot below shows the wheel in this new status.
The four weights on the cylinder rim are NOT a contribution for the primemover action: they are just some components of the added flywheel (for a better rotation).

My first experiments confirm the validity of the theoretical design:
the central cylinder don't shock anymore, rotates at twice the main wheel speed and the friction seems to be marginal.
The final challenge has been described earlier here: http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/viewt ... 7532#57532.
As you can see in the short video the motions of this cylinder and also of the main wheel are not synchronized, rotating each one step by step (this can be explained by a double pendulum effect). Therefore the deal now is to link these two sub-assemblies.
IMHO (any suggestion is welcome) there are two actions for implement:
- a ratchet, obliging the cylinder (the famous 'hamster') to be always in advance (remember 'the cart before the horse')
- any mechanism inside the cylinder assuming an overbalance (even if not permanent).
But I have the choice, like this one: http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/viewt ... 6725#56725.
A very light mechanism should be sufficient, the wheel being almost balanced and the manual torque needed for the rotation in the video being very marginal.

The latest design I'm working on.
This is the follow-up of the concept displayed recently here: http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/files ... fugal1.gif, but where the gears were not in conformity.
This one now is of order 3, for the friction reduction.
Some sets of gears are used, the size of the intermediate rollers being irrelevant, but the size of the outer gears being (a mandatory) equal to the central grounded gear.
The pressure forces are gained by two sets of strings, organized in a hexagonal shape, and allowing a smooth contact.
The key of this design are the pins (in red) limiting the position of the pendula on the left side of the wheel (supposed to rotate clockwise).
The fulcrum of each pendulum is independent of the main wheel (the relative path is a hypocycloid), keeping always the top position.
The building is about completed, I have just to hang the pendula on the internal cage.
Some shots will be displayed very soon, and a video if a have the time
I have another urgent reports to complete before my tests, and I must leave again next week.
Hereafter a drawing explaining this building.

Hi P_F !

If you like simple "pendulum games" with gravity, take a look at :

Dear Jacob Alex,
I already knew the famous studies from the Professor Evert.
But the theory shall be confirmed by the practice.
Thanks for the link.

Hi P_F !

Evert has a very large theory...as he pointed...but "poor mechanical skills"

Regarding his unsuccessful experiment (see the address up here),he has an interesting remark:"Probably this system can work with one rotor and unsteadily speed of turning".

As we know, you are a talented handicraft man and in my opinion ,if you can test this "simplified rotor" (a lever +an asymmetric pendulum) ,maybe we can get some new insights about this so-old (8 years...) topic of our forum.

If we are ignorant about PM's "theory",a little "practical intuition" can help us...

Dear Jacob Alex,
Are you referring to this: http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/files ... ug1927.jpg
If yes, I guess it will be deceptive...

Hi P_F!
In my opinion ,there are no connections between Evert's proposal/test (so simple!) and that old PopSci/081927 (so "composite"!) photo. As usually, the doubt is the beginning, not the end...a temperate suspicion is more suitable, than a refuse to accept.

As promised, some shots of the wheel (in relation with the previous post).
The pivot of the pendulas will be located on the violet lines.
The hexagonal frames are made with some transparent links, so far perhaps not all and/or full visible.
The second shot shows how they have been built.

Hereafter a shot of another wheel using the same principle.
This time the gears have been replaced by a chain.
For sure the main axis (in green) will be horizontal.
The grounded disk sustains the internal fixed reference gear (duplicated by the chain to the three other equal gears).
In that state there is no hung pendulum: they will be suspended to the top of each three external disks (at the red cross position).
There is no tenser yet for the chain: just a step in the building (to the success?).

The last two shots were a description of my attempt to build a wheel in respect with the principle shown in the animation.
In fact, the second wheel (with the chain) don't work like as planned.
I have been squeezed by the 'death turn'
Any kid knows that: take two coins of equal value, and let roll the first around the rim of the second.
How many turns the first one will rotate?: TWO
I forgot this fundamental point, and in the latest above wheel the mechanism works pretty well, but the goal is not achieved...

The purpose was to keep oriented each of the three external disks during the main wheel rotation.
Actually with this design (center gear grounded) the external gear rotates a full 360 grades during one turn of the main wheel (instead to replicate the center gear orientation).
The solution is double:
1. either let rotate the central gear counterclockwise
2. either multiply the size of the central gear by TWO
I had been fronted to this problem already in 2008 (see here: http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/viewt ... 8828#58828)
I have been mystified by my old experiment here: http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/viewt ... 8851#58851

I'm not disappointed, nobody is perfect...
This allows me to issue some remarks:
1. Why anybody did NOT warned me on this obvious error?
May be my buildings don't have any interest, excepted the artistic beauty for few members...
2. Apparently there are no one WM2D software owner verifying the suggested designs of this forum.
If just one would have made the test, for sure WM2D would have issued the warning.
Now if one made the test and discovered the error, why he did not signaled it?
3. I understand the skills of each member of this forum can be different.
But year after year I observe the point where the majority of the members seem to be either just waiting on the final applaud, either hoping to find a variation allowing the deposit request for a patent.

On this last subject I can precise (one time again) that IMHO nothing can be patented.
The first patent, describing the same principle (like than above) has been given in 1932 and is now in the public domain. See here:
Perpetuum Motion Journal (1967 issue) on the Hugo E.FRAGA: http://www.rexresearch.com/perpmtnj/pmj1-3.pdf
In any case I will continue my building, increasing my experience. May be one day I will have a good surprise.
A good day for all.

p_f,
in general you insist to design non symmetric wheel devices.

Of sure, I'm not THAT authority, but for true, I have the guess that this is not the path for a PM wheel.

It's very delicate for one to say 'that will not turn' because one respect to the work of another member and his thinking must be very different... so as may be a clue to some other stuffs and discoveries.

If I'm forced to send a guess or opinion in a RUSH, or without sufficient knowledge or DATA, better is to be quiet, in respect to someone other intelligence.

We have here members that are totally happy to come and destroy, as a machine gun.

In above, you say this:
''I'm not disappointed, nobody is perfect...
This allows me to issue some remarks:
1. Why anybody did NOT warned me on this obvious error?
May be my buildings don't have any interest, excepted the artistic beauty for few members...

I could see, p_f that very few can be expected from others here, so as from yourself, since we are a forum of inventors and discoverers, and not for engineering solutions. For example, up to now you wasn't able to say a single true appreciation about my avalanchedrive, and I understand to this 'mechanism'.

There are some threads here that people should be ashamed, but they keep talking and talking...

If we have here skilled people? Maybe, but I'm not sure if they are honest and if they just don't care to manage situation and be the first winners!

Others just try to do business and build a smart and clever aura of sapientia and expertize, harvesting if possible money of any.

If you are a kind of philosopher, welcome... this can be the right place to learn... OF SURE, as an alone alumni, as usual. 8|

Best!

Dear murilo,
Many thanks for your comments.
Just a remark: my latest design is symmetrical in a static point of view (and in the keeling position), but asymmetrical as soon the centrifugal force is enough able to shift the right side pendulum.
you wrote:For example, up to now you wasn't able to say a single true appreciation about my avalanchedrive, and I understand to this 'mechanism'.
Like you mentioned above, I have no opinion on the 'avalanche drive' design, this is the only reason why I did not yet made a comment, with the care do not say anything wrong, the question of the friction being not marginal. IMHO only a practical very sharp building can give an accurate answer.
