I do believe that Bessler007 is now open for slander lawsuits. Hiding behind Bessler007 made him extremely brave at what he accused people of. I am sure if you look a little closer he is here under a different name as well. I have no real way to prove the hypotheses, but he has said that "he had his spies". And with changing IP addresses it is hard to track.

I think ip adresses can be traced to the cities they originated in though.

IP addresses can be traced to their originating home terminal, but that does not give an indication of the users location.

Mine for example is Quest Communications which supplies me with telephone and DSL. It is located in Portland Oregon. I am 191 miles East of Portland.

Ralph, if you discovered that Gene phoned you at home under an alias and then published that private conversation publicly through his blog, without your express prior consent and with the clear intent to damage your reputation, how might you be compensated for such damage if that was your wish?

I know ip adresses can change. I thought a city or general area could be found based on information given to me by a proffesional programmer, I am in no way an expert.

Ralph give me your ip adress and I'll see where it places you.

Never gave it much thought and I will attempt to explain why;

Who ever called me did not attempt to identify themselves, no alias was given. He simply asked if I was the Ralph Lortie of Besslerwheel.com. I verified yes I was, that was the end of the conversation.

As for his blog statement, he did clearly post a disclaimer;

Disclaimer: Any resemblance of any characters in this interview with actual human beings is purely coincidental.

I do not think I would have any legal recourse even if I were to pursue it. He pretty well covered his butt on this one!

It does raise a question: Does one have any copyright to their own surname when used in a fictitious annotation? I do not think so!

Ralph it does say Oregon, but it says portland. I don't think your in Portland but close? Anyway the states it's getting are dead on, that's at least something. It also says the provider you told me.

Just click on the IP icon in the upper right of every post. That is where I got the one I sent you via PM.

You will find that everybody will have numerous IP numbers. My IP being quest does not clarify that there are other independent IP servers in my area that also use quest as a parent carrier.

Example of this is;

OregonTrail.net
My180.net
Ucinet.com
Bluemountain.net
etc.

Although I subscribe to Quest, I have seen some of my messages routed through these other servers.
