Neither. I was finishing up a paper on the theory, geometry and operation of perpetual motion. Coincidentally it might lead to a proof of one the construction problems of antiquity.
Anyway nice opinion of the topic Walt
Silly. That was a response to someone else's nice opinion of the topic. I'm still thinking about the matter.
So where you been? Kicking the dog or beating the old lady?

Neither, I don’t have a dog and the old lady is too fragile for beatings. So I have been in the attic going through some old Sears catalogs. Kinda think I don’t need any help, but thanks for asking.

Cool; sounds more interesting then what I was doing.
I was sort of wondering your age Walt, but you do not have to answer it. It is really none of my business. I am serious when I say I am interested in your opinion of the thread topic though.
P.S. Always nice of you to always to bring to my attention my bad grammar, also if the forum decides on a Spelling Cop or a Grammar Police Division I am going to nominate you. 8))) I warn you though you are going to have a full time job because I make plenty of both 8P
Thanks for your suggestions. They have a lot of merit. Thanks for spending the time to think it through and verbalize your proposals so clearly. Also thanks for your gracious attitude toward my perspective on the matter. I do want to avoid autocracy as much as possible and use the tools available to moderate effectively while minimizing my own personal brain damage and time investment.
As a starting point, I like the idea of preventing zero post members from using the reputation system. It's been a long time since I worked on the forum code, but I will start looking in to implementing that feature first.
Thanks again and keep the ideas/feedback coming.
Cheers,
Scott

justsomeone,
Thank you for showing how much building is discouraged in this forum. It does make it difficult for people to explain why they are well respected in understanding Bessler's work when they have no idea how his wheels worked.
I think this forum is meant more for people who view themselves as intellectuals. You know, it's how a person perceives Bessler's work as a thought rather than desiring an actual understanding of his work and how he accomplished it.
After all, if people do not have the ability to understand his drawings, then it is reasonable for those people to be fearful of someone who can. It is about being credible in here and why I don't belong. :-)
scott wrote:The basic code changes are in. Members with zero posts can no longer use the reputation system and all reputations have been set back to zero. Cheers!
If that's the case, how can anyone have any reputation?
Those who post can sling new dots. Notice, it does not say that those without a reputation can't use the reputation system. It only says that those who haven't posted can't.

Well, we don't seem to be equal when it comes to attention to detail, perhaps. ...lol
