Well, the Iranian government has a new "deal" for the West. If the matter of their refusal to stop enriching uranium is kept out of the Security Council, then they are willing to let the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) conduct unannounced inspections of their nuclear processing facilities.

The problem with this offer is that the Iranians will decide which facilities the inspectors can visit. And, of course, if the Iranian goverment is, indeed, working on nuclear weapons, those carefully hidden sites will not be on the list of ones that the inspectors will be allowed to see.

I've heard some early Sunday morning political "pundits" discussing this matter and they seem to think that Iran is years away from their first nuclear weapon. I disagree completely. My calculations indicate that they could be months away from a battlefield ready nuclear weapon.

But, doesn't it take years to find a working nuclear warhead design even after a country has enough weapons grade uranium for such a device? Ordinarily, "yes", but there is considerable evidence that the head of the Pakistan nuclear weapons program was privately selling their nuclear technology and weapons designs to countries like Libya, North Korea, and Iran! The Iranians already have the specifications for a nuclear weapon. All they need now is the material and, as I said, that could be achieved in a matter of months.

Although Bush is saying that all diplomatic means will be tried with Iran first, I suspect that the perceived danger they would pose with a nuclear arsenal will eventually override this peaceful approach. I expect the aerial campaign to start before the end of this year...

It takes a cascade of 1500 centrifuges about 12 months to produce enough "bomb grade" uranium to make one Hiroshima sized nuclear weapon. Iran claims that by the end of this year, they will have 6,000 centrifuges in operation. That is enough to produce one bomb every 6 months.

However, its quite possible that they already secretly have that number in operation and gave a year's end date to the world in an effort to lull it into thinking that it has more time to use diplomacy in an effort to get Iran to stop uranium enrichment. Six months from now to their first atomic weapon would be about the end of October of this year. And that, of course, assumes they just started the bomb grade enrichment process now. It could have been ongoing for months now for all the West knows.

My prediction is that, unless stopped, they will about the end of this summer, announce to the world that they have nuclear weapons (in reality they will only have one) and that if anybody tries to mess with them they will use it. It will not be necessary to test the device because they will be using a pre-tested design that they purchased from Pakistan.

Even with a single functional nuclear weapon and one working missile, they will be in a position to threaten their immediate region of the planet. This form of subtle nuclear blackmail could embolden them to undertake military action in surrounding countries and even realistically threaten our ally Israel.

Well, I'm sure that all of this is being viewed with a very jaundiced eye over at our Pentagon and CIA. Expect some sort of air campaign to take out any suspected nuclear facilities before the end of this summer.




With regard to the world's escalating energy costs:


I saw an interesting news "blurb" this morning. It seems that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is starting to get concerned about the rising energy prices in his country and has responded by ordering a 25% decrease in the price of gasoline being sold in his kingdom.

The new lower price over there? It works out to about $0.65 USD or 65 cents per gallon of regular!

Happy motoring this summer everybody else not living in Saudi Arabia...

Dave, your message, though quite true, will always be lost on those who willingly compromise their higher reasoning ability by blind loyalty based on fear. The old "Better red than dead" "Can't beat'em join'em" philosophy.

It's obvious that the true 'masters of disaster' are ensconced in our own modern 'Roman beast' of a political system.

You cannot sway those like Ken, as good hearted as he is, no intellectual lever, no matter the length and strength can pry open a closed mind, sealed by blind loyalty or indentured servitude masquerading as free will allegiance.

As the oil companies and many other corporate pirates are awash in the highest profits of their history.......their media whore counterparts keep pounding the minds of those like Ken, that it's those dusky Arabs that are at the root of the world's evils.

Uninformed masses will always prefer the 'devil' they know, to his branded enemy.....history has proven this time and again.
