Vandusen's rep appears to have been at "This member should be banned" for well over one month now. Is it time to send these lying, fraudulent bastards a little message and enforce the forum rules?

Last I heard he was unable to post, I was under the impression that he had been banned already.

Of course the are times when the word impression can be confused with assumed.

Yes, Darrel's account was banned a couple of weeks ago. Since his is the first account to ever be banned, there are a few wrinkles in the system for me to work out. In particular, I guess i need to introduce yet another reputation rating called "Banned" now. I will look into this when I have time. In the meantime, fear not, he has been banned.

Well, I do have mixed feelings about banning former members from this Discussion Board unless, of course, they are threatening other members or are verbally abusive or offensive. I think that the red dot system, with some modification, could be sufficient. Perhaps, for the very rare cases wherein someone is proven to have commited a fraud then that, too, could be indicated with a red dot and should be sufficient warning to anybody else who might get involved with them...especially in a situation where money might change hands. Disfellowship can be a cruel punishment...it should only be used for the most extreme of cases.

I like to think that everybody should have a chance to clear their name or, if that is not possible, then, at least, to make amends. There should be a path back into the good graces of the Discussion Board membership with the path being longer and harder dependent upon the nature of their transgression.

Winkle, I think a terminated account will reduce a banned member to that of any other non-member access - no posting, restricted topic access, no log-in privileges.

Being only "disregarded by some" you probably don't have too much to worry about just yet :P

Actually, winkle, I think there's a way to ban the IP address of a person's PC from a site so that when he tries to access the pages of that site, he just gets back a "Page Not Found" message. In this case, they can not even read the pages of the site!
