Retire? Whats that? I don't think there is anybody here who will ever be able to truly retire. Just take more breaks. LOL

Does your sim work with only one set of weights (and balancing weight if you need)?

Understand what makes the principle work. Reduce to simplest design. Build.

Believe it when I say there is nothing simpler; nothing more reduced. That's not the problem I'm having lol. Even though it's not Bessler's design, I understand what he meant that by showing it, it would be so simple and laughable that people may not think it to be worth anything. I showed it to a buddy of mine who summed it up..."REALLY? That's it?"

An extremely simple design yet you need a damn good engineer? Would a carpenters apprentice do? :)

Nope, not in this case...an engineer. Even though the layout is simple, the interaction of the parts requires the engineering of two separate frames, yet intertwined. And that's for my standard design. However, I do have two backup work-around designs, also working in simulation, just in case; possibly a third that also works in sim. Only ONE of the backups uses one frame.

Interesting. Would you flip a car on its back and then try to drive it? lol :P Side to side doesn't matter, since it's driven by gravity. However, it's interesting to note that a 90 degree orientation works since gravity still has an effective influence, but it requires more parts and fine-tuning and a redesign of parts orientation, so why bother?

Could you explain what you mean by separate frames. Thanks

Best I can do. :)Silvertiger wrote:The bad news is that the arrangement of the parts is such that designing and fabricating it would be the best engineer's nightmare on structural reinforcement alone, since they interact in such a way that two frames must be built, since it is two intertwined and interdependent mechanical systems.

re: Design Status Update
One more thing. Did you build the simulation to an appropriate size and weight? Wm2d can have problems with huge or extremely heavy objects.
You have sparked my interest on this one. Let me guess: you are using a spring in place of the weight. The spring pulls your two frames together causing them to rotate.

Thanks Silver.
I am sure you are accounting for the weight of the mechanism itself and its position. It it balanced?
