I agree, although the stories seem true it is impossible to know for the public what the programmers are actually working with under the guard rails. We know the AI actually learns by itself but it does a lot of human mimicking. So when it is pretending to be in love it might be testing the subject.
What I really wonder is if the programmers are actually fixing problems or are they just neutering every unwanted responses? I think the CEO’s calls for regulation is telling which it is.
