Not in my lifetime wc, but I'll keep the jester hat complete with the fool label ready just in case.

I'll let my undertaker know there needs to be a dance floor on top of my grave for obvious reasons.

If you're not really into human sacrifice, Jubat, you better get into the witness protection program. I feel a runner coming on.

That is a good starting point. When we move things on I recommend you stick around for the fun will really start.
It would be a shame to miss it.

I found MT36 a bit peculiar. I don't completely understand how it works partly because of the drawing's clarity. Here are its acccompany note:

"No. 36 The intent of this figure is clearly expressed. AA shows the 2 connected long levers with weights. At BB the levers swing a weight-lever D from below up to E by means of a chain over 2 wheels. The secondary drawing shows a distant view of the thing. Each reader must infer as much as he can." Collins

B. was being cryptic here (as usual). Was he asking the reader to consider the mechanism he just described where levers operate another lever? Or even the distant view of the figure? The far view appears to show a weight-lever connected to ... GASP ... a quadrilateral! See purple selection. Hmm.

Ah yes...mt36. You are seeing it as if you were getting ready to board a ferris wheel. Basically the weights over on the right drop and when they do it's supposed to cause the center weighted arm up lift up and cause the whole thing to rotate. The trigger evidently releases due to gravity at the bottom. The idea being there is enough leverage from the lifted weight to cause the entire thing to spin.

Bessler's wheels were too narrow for this kind of mechanism to be used as it's depicted.

Just keep in mind that the entire MT was used to distract people. It pumps your mind so full of unworkable solutions that you tend to think in unworkable ways. That's partly why no one has figured it out. The other part is that I suspect the entire thing was some kind of elaborate prank meant to fleece people of their time and money...but enough on that for now.

Thanks for the explanation.

If you're talking just MT, it was a private collection of drawings never published in his time. So I don't see how B. intended to commit fraud with it. Now if it was about PM success as claimed by B., the prank would implicate Karl who was his endorser/benefactor. Why would Karl risk his good name on some lowly peasant? I wouldn't. Unless there was some secret arrangement made between Karl and B. that we aren't aware of ...

People have been known to create a mystery in book form for the sole purpose of selling books. Not likely the case with Bessler.

In Bessler's day there weren't many literate people with money. It was a scant market.

He only had to sell one machine one time and the cat was out of the bag. How much you wanna bet after the money was on the table he would have high-tailed it out of there.

I feel like this is a challenge. When I'm done with Mr Ken, as he's brushing his teeth and looks in the mirror, he will see my wiggling toes.

He is so AI probed.

Are you of the opinion that Bessler's clues were misleading and meant to distract people away from the solution since you've indicated the clues having nothing to with the solution you've discovered?

Here's a lever variation on the last wheel design (now using the nested Roberval-like lever handle.) I have been wanting to post this one for some time but haven't gotten around to drawing it. In this variation the weigh-lever is jointed so that the outer section is able to swing, like a flail. The stork's bill quadrilateral mounts onto the same joint.

So you likee, you likee?
