There seems to be just one new forum, which is Mr.Umez's Forum. Two other old forums (MrTim's and Michael's) that usually don't show are now appearing on the index page. Maybe when Mr'Umez's forum was added it caused some type of programing bug to show up?

Each private forum has a moderator. I you aren't a member you can ask to join. The moderator of the private forum determines who can enter.

Just an ideaÂ…

Maybe the private forums should be open, at least, for Community Members to read. Special Access granted by the Forum Moderator would be required to post though.

What do you think, Scott?

MC, No! The private forums are private for a reason.

The Private forums are places where you can share ideas privately with trusted friends. Anyone can easily become a forum member. If they could then immeadiately read your private forum it would NOT be private any more, now would it?

The Community Buzz forum is where only members may post and only member can read.

The General Discussion, Off Topic, and Fraud forums are where only members can post messages that can be read by both members and non-members alike.

Jim_mich.

I understand and appreciate your above post. I have been running my own little private forum by private mail for some time.

One thing that should be made clear, Is the joining of these forums by application or invitation? In the past some were by application only. So I was informed.

Joining forums is by both application and invitation. Each forum has a "moderator". Only the moderator can turn on and off who can use their forum. You might be invited in. Or you might asked if you can join and be accepted or denied.

Jim is right, Mr.Umez's is the only new private forum. There are currently seven private forums, 4 of which are not hidden. Those 4 forums are now visible. The others were made visible for a few hours by mistake. Of the 4 that are not hidden, two are curently open to new membership requests. To request membership, click on the header link called "Groups." Select the group you are interested in joining, then click "View Information." If the moderator is accepting membership requests, there will be a button labeled "Join Group." Click that button to make a request to the moderator to join the group. The moderator may accept, reject, or ignore your request.

Hey Scott, I notice in Mr.Umez's Private Forum (and the others) the 'edit post' button seems to be missing from the top right corner of the post windows.

Ahha !! So you are one of the priviledged few, William.
Still there doesn't seem to be much action in these private forums so I guess we're not missing all that much.

Your not missing anything in my forum at the moment at all Graham.
There is a design I've been working on for close to two years now. Hopefully I will soon be finished (I work full time so I do what I can when I can). My thoughts are to restructure my board from scratch and when I have something working present some of the content in a more complete form instead of just the few ideas on here. At that time I'll reopen my board.

Hi Michael, two years !!! that's quite a long time .I wonder would happen to this whole site if you or someone else would solve the Bessler problem .

No need for private or public forums anymore. We could all look for something else to exercise our brains and Scott could take up gardening.

Good luck with your design

P.S. One more important note on this subject. Any member can have their own private forum. All you have to do is ask.

I have some "mixed" feelings about this "private" forum business. To tell everybody the truth, I am not even 100% comfortable with my ongoing thread in the Member's forum which is restricted to member's only, but I guess if one is not motivated enough to join this Discussion Board, then he probably would not be that interested in my thoughts anyway. Also, restricting my material to board members only at least assures that if I respond to a particular person's post that they will probably be around the next day to read my response.

However, I generally don't like having to worry about some moderator booting me out of a private forum because I expressed something that didn't quite agree with his particular beliefs about OU/PM. It seems to me that a person could start worrying more about maintaining their private forum membership than expressing his thoughts on an issue. Consequently, I will not apply for membership to any private forums, nor will I accept an invitation to one.

On 7/6/06, I found, in any overbalanced gravity wheel with rotation rate, ω, axle to CG distance d, and CG dip angle φ, the average vertical velocity of its drive weights is downward and given by:

Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ

....and nor I guess would you wish to start your own one.

I myself am an all inclusive kind of fellow who would like to reach the masses and that includes all the weirdo's around here, so I'll be doing the same as Ken.

I see some guy "Subramani" has his own forum......um....... who?

Does any one know what it the maximum amount of lift you can get from a scissor lift if you are trying to lift a 6oz weight using a 6oz counter weight. I am using drawing #83 as an example. If I turn the scissor lift upside down and place a weight where the pendulum would be connected...by changing the fulcrum points on the scissor lift it should be able to lift its own weight but what is the maximum height? Anyone have any help on this.
