Google Idea

Post by Oxygon »

Ok I often search a few places to get good weather info to have a good idea of what is and will happen...

I know google has google maps...?

Well how about a weather overlay?

"Google Weather"...?

Up to date and animated...?!

Wouldnt that be nice...???

Oxy...

A lot of things on the internet are nice IF one has a high speed connection and can quickly download huge image files. Unfortunately, the 2/3 users who still only have 56 kpbs modems will not be able to view any but the shortest of low resolution video clips.

On 7/6/06, I found, in any overbalanced gravity wheel with rotation rate, ω, axle to CG distance d, and CG dip angle φ, the average vertical velocity of its drive weights is downward and given by:

Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ

oxy,

I use http://www.weather.gov/ You can zero in to every weather transmitter in your locality as well as highway monitor cameras.

I keep a short cut to my immediate area on my desk top.

Ok, I did find this google-like overlay page...

http://www.weatherbonk.com/weather/index.jsp

In the upper right hand corner there is a "US RADAR" option...

just what I was looking for...

I'm bookmark'n that one... :)

doesn't move, but good enough...

Since most storms travel through Chicago before hitting southern Michigan I use this Chigago radar link. I like it because it's fast. By the time I wait for google weather to load on my slow dialup connectiuon I might better just look outside.

If you select the city radar in the dropdown on the right side of the page, then click 'animate' you can view the last few hours of radar imagery on the map

Here's my favorite Doppler Radar / IR US weather map. It's a static map of the latest weather situation, but I think it can also be gotten as a loop of the past 6 hours of weather:

There is a myriad of sources for radar images. Google needn't add more crap. Google is already worse for it's additions of late. I positively loved the young Google. Now, regularly I must scroll through 50 items which were ordered at the top and have absolutely nothing to do with my search, usually trying to sell counterfeit erectile disfunction medications.

That is why I recommend http://www.weather.gov/ It is a NOAA weather outlook forecaster that you can close in on your immediate area.

It is not a Google but a Government sponsored link and has no advertisements or other related unwanted junk.

about 3 years ago i ran across this weather site , Mesquite Weather.com he is in nevada . i found it to be so very interesting that i purchased my own "Davis Vantage Pro" unit . it has proven to be a most dependable unit . i only wish i could tie it to the noaa as others have done but here there are no options other than very slow dialup . anyhow his site will take you to weather links to just about anything, anyplace , imaginable . there are now many private weather stations scattered thruout the world and probobly one very close to you .
