DVD question

Post by graham »

Can anyone tell me if a DVD burned on my brothers computer in England will play on a DVD burner/player on my computer in the USA ?
I'm wondering if there would be a compatability problem because regular television DVD's are not compatible .
Thanks

Region codes can be changed in your player, but be warned they can only be changed a few times ( at least on my player ) then they lock in at the last setting.

Thankyou for the information Mike . I just did did some research based on what you said and read the following from Microsoft:
The region settings can be changed only a limited number of times. When Changes remaining equals 1, and you select a new region, an alert will be displayed warning you that after this, you will only be able to play DVDs from that region. Be aware that you might not be able to change the region setting for some DVD hardware and software decoders.
I wonder why they limit it. ??? How many changes are you allowed ?

There are software solutions to this problem, such as: http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
