If what he says is true he should go for Randi's Million.
Cute machine and simple.
He says it wont run forever yet he makes a comment about a coin cell not lasting 6 years so I am not sure of what he is saying.
Still - cute and worth viewing

Not knowing is not the problem. It is the knowing of what just isn't so.
It is our responsibilities, not ourselves, that we should take seriously.

re: video of PM machine
Hi Kirk! Much appreciated for this video announcement. It's really a "cute machine and simple" .The comments of the builder are modest and explanatory. But how about a gravity model ,in the same "simple" manner?A starting point must be as simple as possible. All the Bests!/Alex
Simplicity is the first step to knowledge.

Thankyou Kirk for finding this for us.
This man deserves a medal and I can't believe how modest he is . Elegant and simple would describe his motor, and although he says it is not PM I would have to disagree with him.
No, in its present form it won't solve the worlds energy problems but it may be worth some serious investigation.
I might have a go at building one , I already have some rare earth magnets. I wonder if it would be possible to increase the number of the magnets beyond the 2 that his model uses.
I can't believe that this thread hasn't had more attention, maybe it's just another slow day.

Interesting, simple, elegant... But I think it isn't PM as he said.
It's also hard to clarify what happens with it. Really worth a deeper investigation.

Judging by his accent I'd say that he is Northern Irish, possibly west Tyrone - Donegal border, or mid-Ulster.
It may be of "no commercial value" but I could see that as a novel office/desk utility item, he could of made some money there.
"Executive Toys" is what they call the market.....

I'd bet that a battery is hidden in the middle cylinder. IMHO this guy should be fricasseed.
Thanks for visiting BesslerWheel.com

Hmmm.... It looks like a capacitor to me, and very big one at that!
"It is an electrolytic capacitor....not a button cell. It looks like a capacitor....it genuinely is a capacitor."
That chipboard is thick enough to conceal a battery though.
EDIT: OK Scott I see you've edited and changed your mind of where your phantom battery is (incase folks wonder what I'm talkin' about)....?

re: video of PM machine
And therein lies the problem!
re: video of PM machine
I've been thinking some more about this device and questioning my initial enthusiasm.
Firstly : That twisted pair of wires don't appear to be connected to each other at the top end. Is this a problem, since it is an open circuit ??
Secondly : Because the wires are twisted, the effect would seem to be a side to side movement of the wires in the magnetic field of the magnet as it passes by.This would seem to me to be an alternating current that would be induced.
You can't charge a capacitor with an alternating current can you ?? You would need a diode to rectify it.
Maybe I should refocus my attention back to gravity.

Well I believe the battery is in the hole of the table where you would put the pole ..
The three screws that hold the device are unecessary and the current passes in two of those screws ..
Why would you put your device exactly on top of the hole in the patio table and put a cardboard on the bottom of the machine with three METAL rests!??

There is a diode in the circuit. It is there.

If only youtube was around 40 years ago, you could have posted your working device up before you went conveniently senile!

COYLO; I am not senile, not even close to it. I do have bouts with cancer and heart problems. I guess that I am really un firm. I do not blame any one for that and that was not the reason that I could not devilge the secret.
re: video of PM machine
That was a very thick base.
the three screws threw me too...
thick base and layer of dust could go either way...
