While we all waite for everyone who thinks they are the one who will find the correct answer for Besslers Wheel, some people are making big changes in technolgy and invention.
Here is one that seems to me will make a major impact on knowing whats under the surface of materials.
Brian Schulkin, winner of the first-ever $30,000 Lemelson-Rensselaer Student Prize, has invented an ultralight, handheld terahertz spectrometer
The next thing seems to be.Terahertz waves in Sensing and Imaging.
Terahertz waves or T-rays are based on the terahertz region of the electromagnetic spectrum, which is defined by frequencies from 0.1 to 10 terahertz — just between infrared light and microwave radiation. The are saying that “Terahertz waves are the last window in the electromagnetic spectrum to be exploited by scientists.

re: Inventions Now
Found a interesting test to see how good you are at invention.
It took a few min. on dial up.
Just some good fun.

This link below talks about electronic communication.
It concerns how science was written and documented.
This was how historians traced and document changes in science.
If you want another good reason to write in your journals this is one good one.
Hand write and sign your research and communications.
It may be kept this way, and later when you are gone, history can look back and see the writings, unlike email where ideas are past from each researcher in simple communications. The electronic writings can be lost forever.
