Sounds like a plan, I’ll look into it. Thanks!

Edit:- just checked, legal deposit to the national library is an excellent idea. Brilliant.

I am happy that the 'Great Library of Collins' will not be burned on the fire of 'What on Earth is this rubbish?'

I also recommend you place a small note book in each box of manuscripts.
The first information that is lost is the meta-data then the data.

Placing the data in a safe place is one thing but the meaning, value is another.
Think about a person looking into that box and reading from that note book of advice.

You have a good point. What is the plan to prevent you or the site passing away.
Could the site be put into escrow of some form?

That also goes for other main contributors of cause. Well J.C. have you considered your legacy planning?

How many admin have you got at this time?

Regards to all.
Is it possible to backup the site image like an iso.zip file?
There are so many Applications [This is a techy word meaning a whole computer disk image with a key software product within] that can be virtualized in this way.

This file can then be sorted or distribution to another host when required.

I appreciate we are focused on Bessler here. However we are here because of others who have followed another path.

If you read this then you will see a simple want can create a whole new world of options that we benefit from.

I already pay $70/year for an off-site backup solution with https://www.rsync.net/ I run some scripts manually every month or so to keep it up to date. That could probably be automated but I haven't gotten around to it.

So maybe it's just a matter of giving access to my hosting provider account and my rsync account to someone I can trust. Not sure who that is though.

Thanks,
Scott

Well some form of Foundation with a group of trustees too implement the founders objectives.
That group would have to multi-sign any action with regards your legacy.

Now we have a new upgraded PHP7.3 BB3 forum. It would be good to switch on a Spam blocker or install one.

I did read of a mod that exists so a skill admin can add an extra question to the standard registration general page.

That could reduce the bot type registration activity.

There is an extra question which also is google proof. However it's not wise to post it in plain text.

All the Best

I've been actively flagging posts and reporting them to Scott as they appear. Hopefully this will be dealt with soon.

I should explain that at the top right of each message is an EXCLAMATION mark. Click on that and it allows you to report the post. I select option #2 as my reason why. If enough of us do this, Scott will get the message and remove it.

So you put a 'pill pusher' in your 'foe list' and they are ignored.

Nope the are not. The moniker and the New Topic Title [Advert] are present with content not displayed.

The upgrade is more 'in your face advertising friendly'.

There are 14 'Newly registered users' and they all can post, create topic etc.
They should be in a probation area restricted to only posting no attachments.

It is not unreasonable to expect a person explains why they need the ability to post.

The majority appear to be

1. Get into forums that are restricted to members only and have a noisy. [count 2,490 at this time]
2. Pray on visitors.
3. Multi-Post Bessler posting users around 564. With the most active in the 250 range.

Ho hoki-koke; well you delete Chumpy 'Pill Pusher' out and Chumpy comes back in.

Look forward to the hidden introduction restricted area for 'New registered users' [newbees].

That is odd a 'New registered users' member normally are required to pass some conditions to get into the 'Registered Users' group?

This new Chumpy has gained full registered status automatically?
It is as if the delay method to gain full access is not configured.

All the Best - Keep on the good work.

One foot in and one foot out.

Deleted again and back in.

Note. I think this is the last post on this matter from me. I have said my bit on the subject.
