Check out the wording on this entry

Post by John Lindsay »

From my Backyard Astronomers handbook-"Every 100 years or so, observers on Earth can watch Venus at inferior conjunctions pass across the face of the sun. These rare events are called Transits of Venus and they occur in Pairs, 8 years apart. The next 2 take place on June 8, 2004 and JUNE 6, 2012." Thought you might find that interesting. John

Is there a reason why the second 'June' is capitalized?

Just guessing, but....
Could be it marks the 300th anniversary of Bessler's wheel?

Very interesting John and thanks for the info. A curious coincidence but nicely timed.

This caught my eye because Johann debuted his first wheel on "June 6, 1712." He suggests that his weights are in "pairs" and it sounds like there are "8" weighted mechanisms inside the wheel.
