There's no such thing as a closed system.

True enough but Jonathan's premise relied on a theoretical closed system.

Either way, energy increases entropy regardless of whether or not it's a closed system.

I can see I shouldn't have resurrected a lot of dead poles (sic) - especially one on the nature of energy. Too tempting by half.

At the basic and most fundamental level of existence there is nothing but infintessimally small, discrete little bundles of "energy" and a veritable cosmic sea of them. Numbers beyond any and all reckoning or imagining in a universe that is actually filled to the brim with absolutely nothing else besides them and the Consciousness that they willingly serve at each and every opportunity, which is the sole purpose of their existence.

Those little bundles are termed "discrete" because they cannot join or meld with one another, and like everything else upon closer examination, would be unique little specimens or individuals among themselves that have their own individualized experiences they collect along their merry way to go with it, just as we ourselves do.

They, like everything else in existence, also have individualized portions of that Consciousness within them that is always in the process of knowing and growing and learning about itself through the evolution of their experiences as well as through the ongoing evolution of all the other forms of experience they facilitate for other portions of that Consciousness, like ourselves for instance.

So everything that exists in our universe, indeed in our entire "reality", is due to the ongoing actions and presence of that swarming limitless sea of energy, and it is the only kind of energy there genuinely is, ever has been, or ever will be. That and the Consciousness it serves is quite simply "All That Is".

That energy is always busily at work in being what it is and it is always at play in doing what it does, which is as good an explanation as any for why it never wearies, wanes, or tires, and I do mean never.

That is the source of what appears to us as energy and work in our own more mundane terms as our senses translate their activities into physical objects and whatever energies, again in our own terms, that appear to be working on them.

In their own larger reality those discrete little bundles are responsive to the intent of Consciousness in any and all of the forms that it has decided to take on and experience. They are the facilitators of both our physicality and all of our experiences as being physical beings in a physical universe and they do that in reponse to both our individual and collective intent as portions of that Consciousness ourselves.

I realize this is not particularly germane to the discussion but it is always important to remember that there is always a larger picture and a larger context from which any limits we confine or restrict ourselves to can only be seen as quite artificial and arbitrary ones.

In the final analysis there is only energy working and at work with more energy at all times and with no particular limits as we understand them.

We are already quite deeply enmeshed in that process below our normal level of awareness. As that awareness increases and expands so too does our access and influence over the energies that are constantly working and at work with us in forming our experience and how we choose to do that. It is quite foolish from that perspective to dwell upon what isn't possible when we've only just barely begun to realize what is.
