Incredible but true: 350 years before the TI-4004

Post by path_finder »

Who in 1624 was thinking the computer was possible? Wilhelm Schickard a friend of Kepler. See here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Schickard in english
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Schickard in french
He built one!...
the machine indicated an overflow of this capacity by ringing a bell
But unfortunately this visionary machine burnt (not by overvoltage but because the War of Thirty Years).
Let's think now at what level could be the mankind today if this man has been sucessful.

edited: I apologize for the error. The first user of the new Intel 4004 microprocessor was NOT Texas-Instrument, handheld calculator division, but Nippon Calculating Machine Corporation.
I cannot imagine why nobody though on this before, including myself? It is so simple!...
