Shape and size...
.....or the external form ("appearance") and bigness (dimensions) are the main points regarding this "impossible" gravity powered device.
If the shape is a question of inspiration, the size is nothing but judicious test step by step (we have no "theory" and appropriate calculus)...around the shape.
Many things difficult to understand, prove easy to perform...
All the best! / Alex

re: Shape and size...
.....remains,in my opinion the main problemaical, undecided (not yet!) investigation regarding a possible gravity powered device.
If the shape, external form,"appearance" remains a subject of long hundred debate, without a real proof, fact or " palpable evidence",however the theory can help us to have a certitude about the size...
The acceleration seems to be the prime working factor in gravity fall/this "unseen flow of pure energy":in a counterpoised system (Atwood machine....gravity motor ),we can get no more than a diminished, decreased "push" from the torque difference (a<<g).
So,we can play a small acceleration only, but we have the possibility to "amass" greater and greater impetus (moving mass, impulse),if we play the second main factor: time...the time of free fall/"avalanche of free flow".
In this contest with eternity, maybe we have a good fortune moving as in a chess game :the checkmate...m*a*t...
Now,a "small question":who is the "best player " of the time factor?!
A wheel concept,or a lever one?!
For this venture,my opinion is that we must "think/imagine" it big...
All the best 2012! / Alex

re: Shape and size...
.....or the external form, appearance and the bigness, dimensions can be considered the main problems of a gravity power engine.
I understand that the shape is a point of a long time debate :a kind of wheel (Bhashkara starting image...),more or less complicated.
At this point,I have a different opinion:I "bet" on Archimedes.
Now,regarding the size,I hope that we have a common point.
If we intend to use the gravity power,we have it as an unlimited storage:potential "accumulator"/"battery".
The rule is simple :in electricity ,for the same power ,if we operate with a small (constant) current ,we need a bigger voltage.
In gravity we can not use for our purpose "g",but a small fraction of it (see Atwood machine...)...so we need a bigger fall(height "h" ).
Here we have an advantage: the mass "current" is not constant ,but more and more increasing (m*v) ...so we can "moderate" the size.
I hope that the common sense, will do a lot to make our debate not too difficult...

With a miniature model , as :
www.youtube.com/watch?v=poMAMQVGjTE
Rarenergia.com , cann't play gravity fall.
Maybe , they have a working prototype , a bigger size , as a temporary "secret" one...or they make an interesting ...bet ?
Who knows?
Anyway , it's a great attempt (and event ) in history (not to forget Aldo Costa ).
The size seems to be adequate...but the shape?
Let's wait and hope.

re: Shape and size...
.....can be the "first glance" ( introducing description...) of a gravity powered motor.
As a common feature , the term "big size" is an obligatory "part of face",in my opinion.
The shape (s) can differ ( be unlike...) , as follows :
-consisting of many spare parts (Aldo Costa, Rarenergia.com.br ...)
-consisting of least possible spare parts. A "far-away" possible shape/image ,at : http://wiki.windpower.org/index.php/File:Fromovi1.gif
Simply , a "certain" variable physical pendulum , self-rotating in a vertical "gusty wind" (gravity fall) , by way of unbalance on the same side of the fulcrum.
For the moment , take this as a ...formal statement.

The problem of workableness can be considered undecided, in my opinion ...see "MT13 digest..." topic.

.....has an excellent illustration , at :
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qp5xqzGFcAQ. ( from 0:58 to 1:16 )
If the size is ok ( like Aldo Costa...) , the shape has a minimal "redundancy" ,only...in my opinion.
With a simple "cut" , we can test workableness of the variable/oscillatory Class 1 leverage (continuous gravity unbalance/torque difference , on the same side of the lever's fulcrum ).

Really , a self powered gravity "device" can be much more fun...than a common seesaw.
