May be JMHO, but might it be better to limit that prerogative to a few hand-selected volunteers?

Thanks Alan and Mark, I appreciate your concern. In fact I have a way to turn off the feature for individual users if I believe they are not using it in good faith.

The good news is: the two changes I made seem to be working really well. A couple people have reported spam posts to me that I probably would have missed otherwise, and now I routinely reject and delete new users with links in their signatures before they are even activated. The good guys win again! :-)
