Considering what appear to be bolt holes, they may actually be for connecting other components.

Thanks for looking up the cost of I-beams, btw. I was wondering about that.

The assembly is an addition of similar elementary systems (two masses ,linkage and crank ) on a crankshaft.

About chances...the universe is full of magical things...maybe , including this "mechanical spider walkig on the spot"...let's hope for a working assembly "line".

Evidently , a test will be conclusive...

No way. The weights are to small in relation to the steelwork holding them and the locus seems quite simple.

Scam or delusion I would say. Perhaps the sheer scale of the machine is mean to draw in very naive investors.

This certainly looks to be a huge and nice build. I can't imagine building something so big and expensive without knowing that it was going to work, either.

I work for a company that recently threw away more than that.

The last photo on their website /taken apparently yesterday/ indicates; "The last moment of stage 3" - Should we expect stage 4, 5 etc.? Possibly yes.. the last sentence on website says "New pictures soon". I think it's not finished yet.

Hey Alex,

When my landlord saw one of the things I was working on, he said it reminded him of Theo Jansen's kinetic sculptures. He later showed me some of them on youtube.

With all the linkages this device has, though, I think it has me beat by a long shot.

Yeah, I guess large companies can just write off more than we poor individuals may ever own. ...especially we poor sickly guys living in rented board and batten cabins.

It is amazing what some people will throw away. I've pulled 4 working 17" monitors out of the trash recently (okay, they are CRT types, though) and my latest acquisition was a working 3.3 Ghz computer. I need to switch over. This one is only 1 Ghz.

I may need to find some earplugs, though. The cpu fan in the newer one sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

I hadn't seen that photo. They've added it since last night (here).

Yeah, it looks like they are still in the process of assembling the thing. Maybe after they add a few more parts the design might start making some sense.

There is an evident similarity to Jansen walking machine woks - as said.

For 2 legs bodies, single walking is the managing of the fall, since false equilibrium is an on-line fact deal by brain, legs and column.

Case these guys intent to follow Jansen inspiration, that TOP entire axle should not be there. (maybe it should be sliced in free separated articulations. MAYBE!

Walking devices NEED to be falling ahead, straight to front.

Anyhow, the soy business at this south state is now blowing in +~50%. 8)
