Private Messaging?

re: Private Messaging?
Hi Jim;
That sounds like good advice from experience. It is refreshing to see a new contributor that is willing to provide their real identity.
best regards--Patrick

Yes, I agree. And by the way Patrick, my name is Jonathan, I still don't get why you thought otherwise.

Jonathan;
I guess I had you mixed up with someone else.

Oh, I am the same me who posted about the Cowlishaw device. I didn't find this site 'til not long ago, so I've not seen any other Jonathans.

A poem for Jonathan
There is a man who loves anonymity;
He'll fight and scream to get it.
He yearns for the world to see his intellect
so he posts a lot to the internet.
He's ashamed of his shoes but forges ahead;
playing dumb and begging bread.
A blatant lie he will gladly endorse,
as long as it points to his genius of course.
His spirtual thoughts are lofty and humble;
which God sees through as He lets him stumble.
An apple does not fall far from the tree;
even in a place called Atlanta as you can see.
So this man is not you nor me, that's true;
but resides a bit in all and is creeping up a lot in you.

He'll fight and scream to get it.
He yearns for the world to see his intellect

re: Private Messaging?
I don't understand, what has that poem have to do with me? What is your point?

re: Private Messaging?
There are too many anonymous here, I can't follow this thread. One posted as "Jonathan." and for a second I thought I wrote that but I didn't remember writing it.

I know what you mean, that happens to me too all the time. It's annoying.
re: Private Messaging?
Hi All,
I am writing to bring closure to this topic. Based on the poll results, I have decided not to enable private messaging on this board.
Here were the results when I made the decision:
Should we allow private messaging on this board?
Yes 44% [ 8 ]
No 38% [ 7 ]
I don't care 16% [ 3 ]
Total Votes: 18
votes tallied: 2003-12-22
Granted, the yea's did technically win the vote. But since the vote was so close, and since I'm not even personally for the idea, I'm going to shelve the Private Messaging question for now. In the future, if a clear desire for this feature should arise in the community, I will consider enabling it...
In the meantime, please use the public or private discussion boards to communicate...
Thanks,
Scott

re: Private Messaging?
I know an it tech for a company and he knows exactly where anyone in the company goes anywhere on the internet. As it turns out the owner visits porno sites. When you control the server you have a good idea what's going on.

How idealistic. You should be in heaven.Jonathan wrote:I think yes, but it should be understood by everyone that the ideas should be on the board. That way if things get a little off topic, people can just talk over the PM and not have the threads temporarily veer off course.
Unfortunately, we are not in heaven, so I vote " no" to PMs.
The feature fosters the clique syndrome.
