My older brother (see avatar) died last week. He was one of the fortunate bomber crew who survived the war. Fifty percent didn't.

He was the bomb aimer in a Halifax. Out of the 30 planes in his squadron his was one of the last 3 to be shot down. Though injured, he and all the crew except the Sqdn.Ldr. pilot managed to bail out and were taken prisoner.

After the war he became a teacher in Looe, Cornwall.

One of my sons came across this video on YouTube.

I thought I'd like to post it in his memory.

Sorry for your loss Frank. I enjoyed the video. I think we all have an opportunity to impact someone's life in a positive way.

Frank,

I too am sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to loose a brother, not only am I the last of four siblings but the loss of a warrior of World War II hits me deeply.

I recently turned 75 and although only five and a half years old at the end of the war, the trials and tributes of of the times left me with memories that will only fade away when I do.

God Bless and my condolences.

Please accept my condolences Frank.

Brothers and sisters give us a much firmer foundation in life and are a
major loss when they leave us.

Thanks for all your replies, chaps.

He had the blessing of being very much compos mentis to the end.
I hope we are all as fortunate. I'm sure that racking our brains over the Bessler Wheel is a good antidote to dementia [although not to mania ;-) ]
