It does make you wonder on all the combinations of movements, forces and inertia that are available.

Very true slivertiger. You have pointed to and defined the walls of the “box� very clearly. The challenge is to step out of the box and redesign the sysyem to feed back into itself. The initial design, developement and build cost is a Sunk cost however if the system had a way to reset itself, then my friend we would be in buisness.

So what about combining masses scaling down with a storkbill device?

Ant 2013 really put the hours into shorkbill implementations.

I have some work to do before getting up to his level.

A concept is to have a large mass near the axle that moves a small amount.
This is turn uses a shorkbill structure to move the next smaller mass out by a greater
amount and so on for 8 masses.

This point here is more to do with acceleration of each mass and the point pressure when it is fully extended. Like a ram pump effect where that pressure is stored and released later.

If the masses can be accelerated out more 9.81 radially and returned by above 9.81
contraction then there is hope.
