the greatest invention?

Post by coylo »

Putting a working Bessler Wheel or PM Machine aside......
What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?

Mine (at the moment) would have to be the bicycle. It gets you from A to B quite quickly and you get a workout at the same time! Although it's hard to decide based on the evolution such ideas go through, the first bicycle's were crap compared to what we have today. So do you make a judgement on what was then originally, or what we have now?

Anyway......what's your choice?

best invention... having to do with energy? or all together best invention...?

I think a PMM would be next best to... the invention of paper...

a information transference device...

It brings everyone knowledge...

PMM brings everyone free energy...

The combustion engine. Without it everything would be different, think of how much food and entertainment and general supplies comes from the quick transfer of items. Donnie Darko thinks antiseptics. Ida know.

Penicillin - probably more of a discovery than an invention, though.

My choice is all inventions that leapfrogged knowledge storage and transfer.

Stone hieroglyphics, paper, photoghraphy, telegraph, telephone, movies, radio, TV, satellite comunication, VCR's, computers, cellphones, hard drives, internet, digital cameras.

Without the means to communicate over time and distance we would still be in caves.

Also begining with the telegraph all require electricity, which in turn requires an energy source.

My candidate for most important invention would be...the wheel! Without it there would be no transportation, power generation, etc. Also, without it this discussion forum would be devoted to something like Bessler's incredible rocking beam PM motor...

On 7/6/06, I found, in any overbalanced gravity wheel with rotation rate, ω, axle to CG distance d, and CG dip angle φ, the average vertical velocity of its drive weights is downward and given by:

Vaver = -2(√2)πdωcosφ

Nothing else to chose as 'most important':
the dealing of fire by human hands.
Second: plants culture, with chosing, storing and moving seeds to anywhere, from an year to the other.
Third: internet. :] regs. M.

Aaaah,it must be my wife's legs.

Seriously, depending how you lean, the human body is a tremendous accomplishment.Did we specify only things invented by man?

It must be a toss up between fire and the wheel. However, without tin cans, all of your can-openers are just junk!
Trying to turn the spinning in my brain into something useful before moving on to the next life.

I've changed my mind, the greastest invention is "post it notes", yep - a little block of sticky paper.......ingenious and simple!

Without them my degree coursework would be in chaos!

Excellent topic choice!
Hello everyone
This may be one of my favorite topics
I would like to suggest that there is one invention by man which of corse
was indeed here for us to find, that is included in all the above inventions.
It is the invention that caused all man made inventions to be brought to mass
people. It includes paper, the wheel, electricity, and every other thing invented.
Can anyone guess what it is?
I'll hide it in this code:

a21 2bC8rstloo
m313cA9lmstk
uhavitsMyfavo1t
JB Wheeler
it exists I think I found it.

In a recent matter, I saw at a really great human goal, possiblely prior and bigger than anyone else.
Humans discovered a way to fead themselves with heavy concentrated meals, much more than ever, enought to support their new coming brain activities...
We discovered concentrated protein sources at MEAT, and many stuffs became possible with the streng surplus, better that single vegetarians.
This may also explain why other hominideos have disapeared forever.

I believe that the four stroke cycle, naturally asperated internal combustion engine was the greatest invention. After that just one communication invention after another, including the computer, has made life easier, but less personal. jim kelly

I believe the Jet engine is a worth while invention, ( I guess war is the mother of invention) It has reduced the size of our world to 24 hours travel, next will be Space travel 20 times the speed of sound to get to and from continents. Uk to Australia in a couple of hours instead of a whole day.
